Anyone ever heard of/had a blue cervix???

Ok, so at my appt today, I had a pap done.  The doc said, and i Quote.."your cervix IS a little blue, but that could just be some congestion"  So  I come home and google "blue cervix" and the majority of what i pull up is "blue cervix: sign of pregnancy" etc.  I found one or two sites that said anything that raises estrogen levels causes increased bloodflow therefore causes blue cervix.  I have to wait two weeks for the results of my pap (grrr).  Has anyone experience this?  All my urine preg. tests are negative including the one at the doc today.  For whatever reason the bozo didn't do blood work.

Nope.  I have PCOS so I rarely ovulate and have periods.  They did a colposcopy/biopsy when the pap came back abnormal and they found CINII cells, which are precancerous.  In order to get "rid" of them I had a LEEP performed in July where they cut out the affected portion of the cervix then monitor with serial paps for a year.  Since I do not ovulate anymore, I was already considered to have fertility problems which I am being treated for now and TTC my first on Clomid now (took my last pill this morning!!).  Because of the LEEP and anytime you "alter" your cervix, if I do become pregnant they will have to keep a close eye on my cervix so I don't go into early labor.

Thanks, I will definately let you know what the outcome of my pap is.  Doc said to call the office back in 2 weeks for the results.  I assume they'll probably call if they get them earlier and it's abnormal.  I researched the whole "blue cervix" thing and out of the gazillion sites that came up only 1 or 2 mentioned it in relation to HPV.

Was your missed period due to the HPV?  How did they treat yours being as it was the high risk?  Have they said whether this would cause you any fertility problems down the road?

Hi Sorry all this is happening to you!  I just went 126 without a period and also took like a million HPTs.  I just wanted to chime in that I was just diagnosed in June with HPV after a bad pap and biopsy.  I had the high risk which can turn into cervical cancer, not the cervical warts which are actually easier to treat.  But anyways, in my journeys with HPV not once was there a mention of a blue cervix.  They actually said my cervix looked incredibly normal...so just to ease your mind a bit... and if it is HPV and you have any questions, let me know!  It ***** but it's totally treatable. :)

No he didn't have to get a cast, they just buddy taped it.  Told us to have him limit weight bearing on it as much as possible for a 4 year old atleast until he can follow up with his Ped. monday or tuesday.  It's no broken all the way through the bone but it was enough that it made his pinky toe stick out just slightly from the other toes when his normally touch each other.   We have a wheel chair here from when DH hurt his back and couldn't walk....so he's learning and having a blast rolling himself around the house in it lol.  And my 6 yo is getting a kick out of pushing him.

Once this is all over with him if I haven't started AF by then, I will be going to a different doc. We have an urgent care clinic here that is also like a family practice.  Wherever I go I am going to request the BETA HCG.  That was I'll get a specific number not just a yes or no.  I'm also gonna try to monitor my CM but i don't always remember to check it.  I'll be keeping track of any other "symptoms" as well.  I thought about the OPKS but just didn't have the money to get them this week.  I also saw something new by First Response....it's a Fertility test.  It tests for LH in your system and is supposed to tell you if you are able to get preg.  It's like $23 for 2 tests though.  I plan on researching that one since it's so new.

Srry, just now coming back to the post. You need to do more than chart to see if you ovulate, Get an OPK kit and start using it. If you can afford it try the clear blue fertility monitor, because I would think that would be the better kind for charting trends over the course of several months.

You should request your doctor do a blood test, a QUANTATIVE Test, not qualative or do both, because sometimes the qualative test is only as reliable as a urine test. Some labs and doctors offices wont consider a qualative test positive until it's around 25 or more... which is what an HPT will show in many cases.

srry about your 4yr old, that's gotta stink. Especially about the copay! :) Did he have to get a cast for it?

Honestly, I don't know, I didn't think to compare symptoms but that's a good idea.  I was thinking about going to a general practitioner to get a blood test done and possible having my thyroid tested but that's gonnna have to wait for a week or so. I had to take my 4 yo to the ER this afternoon.  He hit is pinky toe really hard last week, it turned purple and swelled..bruised up to the middle of his foot.  I figured it was probably broken then.  Well today he was running in the house as i tell him NOT TO do...and he caught it on the molding turning a corner and pulled it out to the side again.  He was screaming so hard I KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt that if it wasn't broken before it was now.  And it was...not all the way through the bone but still broken.  So anyway, that's a $100 ER copay, plus another $30 copay to follow up with his doc on Monday or Tuesday so I'll be waiting to go back for me.

That totally stinks... I would have definitely requested the blood test. lol. Sometimes you have to be pushy with doctors... they work for you. Crazy stuff. Hopefully it is the pregnancy thing and not the HPV. Do the symptoms for the two differ (besides the blue cervix) or are they the same?

well nothing is making sense then.  I'm on CD58 today...don't know if i even ovulated. I've taken TEN hpts over the last 2 weeks and all were negative, did a urine test at docs yesterday and it was negative.  I told him about all the symptoms I was having:  mild to moderate lower abdominal cramping off and on, short bouts of mild nauseau last week...for whatever reason I guess he's not thinking I'm pregnant, otherwise you'd think he would have had me do a blood test.

I did read somewhere that it could be a sign of HPV but i only found one or two things that said that.  So,for now I guess I'm just stuck playing the waiting game even longer.

The ONLY thing he said he wanted me to do was to chart my BBT for 3 months to see if I'm ovulating?!?!??!!?

yes, it's a sign of pregnancy. It has to do with the blood flow down there, since when a woman gets pregnant, right away blood flow becomes higher to that area, sometimes the labia area will also be blue. If your doctor mentioned something about it then it was very noticeable, and it sounds like a good chance that it indicates your preggo.
I'd say just wait it out for a week or so and test again.
