Worked for me both pregnancies. Gave birth less than 24 hrs of drinking it, had healthy babies at 38 weeks. Plan on doing it again at 38 weeks.

I wasnt dialted at all the Fridayb I went to the Dr I started to dialte in the hospital & had my little man at 7:26 pm the next day, only was in labor for 12 hours. I didnt have the runs at all & that was my biggest worry that I would crap when pushing but I didnt thank goodness ! But the DR wouldnt say its ok to do so if it harmed you or the baby in any way & my OB told me too and I chased it with some sprite lol it was gross but sid the job ! Just stay with a bottle of water at all time ( I did throughout my pregnancy anyways ) I was 111 before birth and 179 the day I gave birth & my son was only 6IB 12 oz I was alll water smh

It can happen either way if you're overdue, but you're not overdue until 40+ weeks, I've never heard of a doctor, ever, suggesting castor oil. And there are a LOT of women that take castor oil and their baby has their first BM in the womb, which can result in a lung infection and time in the NICU. A woman not too long ago on here went through this. Even if there's a 1% risk of it, why risk it? There's no proven study because no one wants to use their baby as a guinea pig. I personally don't want to meet my newborn when she's being rushed off because she's having trouble breathing. i know these last few weeks SUCK. I'm 37w1d with my 2nd pregnancy, my first pregnancy went to 40 weeks exactly, and I'm only 4'11 carrying around very, very big babies. You should really try to relax and enjoy these last few weeks, pretty soon you're going to be up alllll night long, (even though you probably are now, haha) and so stressed out adjusting to a newborn. I rushed the last few weeks of my last pregnancy and I really regret not enjoying the last few days I had with my husband!

I asked my doc about castor oil. And she said that she reccomends it to women who r very close to their due date or r over their due date! She said its safe the only real side effects r maybe a bit dehydration. And the runs. But theres no provenfact about the first bowel movement in utero. Thats actually possible with NO castor oil if ur babys overdue.

Ill tell you im 39 an 4 and if my girl isnt here by the 10th i will b induced. I tried castor oil a cuple days ago. All it did as give me the runs, maybe a little cramping but no real labor or anything. The meconium thing is a theory, i did research on it and all the babys that it happened to were past due and made a BM. So its not directly related. It can dehydrate you if you dnt take in enough fluids throughout the day. It cant really bring on labor becuz its something initated by your baby and your body( i have finally come to terms with this fact lol) it can just iritate your uterus.i had a few mild braxton hicks but not enough to go to l&d. Hope this helps!!
Ps. It is a great cleanser however!!!

Castor oil can cause you to become dehydrated. In some women it causes extreme diarrhea and vomiting. It can also cause baby to have their first bowel movement in utero and meconiun aspiration is potentially life threatening. So, in my opinion, it's not safe.
