Concerned

I was at food basics today and apparently they left a piece of garbage on the floor it was like a white hoop thingy and I didn't see it cause the floor is also white... Anyways it got caught to both of my feet and I fell really hard but I fell on my right sholder and knee and ankle I don't think I hit my stomach although would that matter cause I am 7 weeks and the baby should be behind the pubic bone still right? Anyways I went to the hospital cause I was having cramping but no bleeding.., the dr said an abdominal ultrasound would not pick up a 7 week embryo which I am pretty sure is total bullsh$t and I told him that he was wrong lol either way he would not do an ultrasound..... My question is now even if this fall does not cause a miscarrage is it possible that the fall could cause brain damage to the developing brain of the embryo?? I am so worried that I am going to lose the baby now...

Thanks for your help everyone!!!

I agree ur probably fine. When I was 7 months prego I slipped on black ice and landed on my stomach. I couldn't even get my hands down in time to catch my fall. I was so upset I cried all the way to the drs office. When I got there they put me the monitors for an hour and everything was fine. Now I have a very healthy and active 2 year old.

Unfortunately being pregnant tends to send our sense of balance off. I cant remember how many times I fell over when pregnant. I even tripped off the end of our verandah (aprox 70cm) when I was about 7.5months preggo. I didnt harm the bub but I sure did some damage to my ankle and knees.

ja116- CUSHIONED!!! That was the word I was looking for. LOL! Baby is definitely cushioned from any blows and is blissfully unaware of your fall. ;-)

No, unless you had direct lower abdominal trauma I think the baby is safe. Aside from toxins, genetics, temperature, and vitamin deficiencies you do not need to worry about your babies organs right now. The embryo is extremely "cushioned"  at seven weeks from what my OB told me - I bombarded him with what-if questions my last appointment, falls being one of them.
It would probably be good for you to rest with your feet up regardless.
I hope you didn't get hurt too badly and that MD was an idiot - an abd u/s would definitely be able to find a 7wk embryo!

Good luck and I hope you feel better!

Falling does not cause miscarriage. Baby is under a lot of padding and is in a fluid-filled sac that will act as a buffer. I would be more concerned with a woman falling in her late third trimester as there isn't as much fluid around baby to buffer them from a fall.

Don't fret!
