OK I GOT THE DEPO SHOT MONDAY AND WAS WONDERING DOES IT RELLY MAKE YOU GAIN WEIGHT

I was on it for 6 months and will never go on it again!!! 1 week after having my son I was back to my pre pregnancy weight of 140, then after the 1st 3 months on the shot I went up to 155!!!!!! Horrible!!!

i have gained weight on it and would not recommend taking it, it completly stopped my periods when i was on it and when i did get off it in sept 09 to try for my first baby it has taken all the way up till march 2011 to finally get pregnant!!!

I had my first child when I was only 18.  When I went for my post partum check up, I was almost back to my normal weight.  I then gained about 20 pounds in 2 months while I was breastfeeding.  Yes, it is very common to gain weight with this one and I wouldn't get it again.  Plus it messes up your cycles terribly and can make it difficult to get pregnant (for a while at least) when you get off of it.

I did depo for 7 years and never gained weight on it. I know it is different for everyone though. I did gain wieght on the patches though and on bc pills.

I took ONE depo shot after having my daughter last september becuase it's supposed to help with milk production.  I came home from the hospital the same weight I was when I got pregnant....then I gained 10 lbs.  I WILL NOT do depo again.

Weight gain is the most common side effect, but not all women get it.

I have heard from a few friends that the only time they noticed some weight gain is when they went off it of...But i'm not sure...But i'm sure you could talk to your doctor about it or even google it i'm sure something will come up...
