Dilation

I went to the dr yesterday, and they did a pelvic exam because I've been having so many strong contractions. It turns out I'm 2-3 cm dilated already (I'm only 28 1/2 weeks), but not effaced at all. The dr really wasn't too concerned at all. She told me to continue on normally, and rest when possible. She even said my husband and I could still have intercourse if we want. I completely trust my drs, but it just sounds so weird to me because with my first, I was barely 1 cm dilated for the first 30 hours of actual labor! Has anyone else had this happen, where you dilate early, and you have carried your baby to at least 37 weeks?

Thanks! It always helps to hear from actual people who have gone through the same thing and I turned out fine.

I did during my pregencies. Your body's getting ready for labor but you can stay dilayed like thay for weeks believe it or not. As long as you're not dilated to 5cm you're fine. Just rest and drink lots of water.
