Do epidurals hurt?

This is my first pregnancy and I'm only 13 Weeks pregnant, but I keep wondering when I go into labor further down the line and the doctor gives me an epidural, would it hurt? Would I feel it over the contractions? Would it cause a problem after I give birth?

I had an emergency c-section 2 weeks ago I hardly felt the epidural maybe a tiny little pinch at best and that was between contractions

It goes by so fast , dont think about it until the time calls. If you in too much labor pain, do it. If not, then dont. It flies by and before you know it your out of the hospital.

I didn't feel mine at all, they put it in just after a contraction and it didn't hurt  whatsoever, and my back is fine now, it doesn't hurt my midwife said its nothing to do with the epidural that your back hurts, its the way the Dr inserts the needle and catheter tube to your spine, if they do it wrong or have to wiggle it to get to right spot that's when it hurts. If done properly it shouldn't x

It just feels like a little pinch fit a second them it goes cold and that's all I've eve really felt, you don't feel the contractions just some pressure and sometimes not even pressure. I've had three and never had backaches or any problems from them

That stinks. That also makes me afraid because I hate needles.

After ward i would put an ice pack in a towel and strap it around me to help the pain. And every day, to this day my back pops like ten times in that same spot

I had one for emergency surgery when anesthesia wasn't an option... not labor. So I dont know if you'd feel it over contractions or not. But for me it hurt like a mother husker! I flinched when they stuck the needle in and they had to wiggle it to get it between my vertebrae. I was crying and biting my hand the whole time :/
