Due Date....and how long can you put off inducing????
My friend and I are getting reallly excited......yet very impatient for my baby to arrive...... I looked it up and it says you can conceive 12-15 days after the start of your period.. Which was Oct 16th 2009 so 12 days would be Oct28th 2009........ 40 weeks later is AUG 4th.
My due date was July 24th........but really I could go up until Aug SEVENTH/ 7th ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I really cant take this anymore LOL I am not having any discharge no mucous plug loss.... not any contractions....only very slight ones here and there......its driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Question is the doctor said if he's not here by my Next appt. Friday we will talk about inducing............
I watched business of being born and ever since then......I just want to go natural....nothing to induce contractions and no epidural........I just want things to happen naturallly...... unless of course the baby's health is at risk......but they say you have 2 weeks post due date........
so really can I say NO to inducing until the day OF:::::: Aug 7th?????????????
you absolutely have the right to refuse induction. although remember that post-term babies (past 42wks) can run into problems too...I would say set the induction for like the 8th or 9th if you want to try to go natural but still want to set an induction date. They'll want to have it scheduled ahead of time so I would imagine they won't just let you keep saying no and then suddenly say "let's go for it" BUT you do NOT have to be induced before you want to be and you can absolutely tell them to hold off..although some doctors will not let you go post-term because the bigger the baby gets THEY feel it causes more problems so they may not want to deliver you too far post-term (and by that I mean after 42wks).
Just remember that it's normal for "nothing" to happen leading up to your first labor so you may go at any time...but I would say set the induction for the days after your 42-wk mark and go from there. I wouldn't personally want to deliver after 42wks but if you're determined to go natural your doctor may let you go a few days over but insurance may dictate that he not let you go too far over...which stinks but that's how some places do it.
I definately dont want to go past 42 weeks.....If it comes down to inducing I think I would set it for Aug 4th...... Im really hoping he comes soon before it comes down to that....I guesss we will see what happens!! Its a relief to know that I have a choice though!!!
You most certainly have the right to refuse ANY medical procedure, including induction. If your doctor starts talking about induction just tell him you don't want to consider it until after August 4th (or whenever). You can also refuse continual fetal monitoring (they will want at least 20 minutes of monitoring when you first arrive but then you should be free to get up and move and should check on baby with the handheld doppler after that), refuse IV, refuse anesthetics, etc. Of course you should also be aware that if something serious arises then you will need some, if not all, of those things.
And believe me- even though you may not have labor signs right now it can start in the blink of an eye! ;-) So don't be discouraged.
My last birth was natural and I wish all three of mine had been! It was hard but SO WORTH IT!
I got induced 8 days earlier due to complications so that's different then your case. At 42 weeks then they consider inducing you to avoid complications, such as fetal distress or a baby that grows too large to deliver easily and normally.
Baby will come when he/she is ready, it can happen at any moment! Good luck.
Thank you JoyRenee :) I get that if there are any complications they have to do what is best for baby and I ......Its just in my plan to go natural...and im hoping it all goes smoothly. ............ I actually just had some bloody show...... discharge with some brown!!!!!! That IS bloody show.....right?? lol
