Fetal Doppler

Quick question:
Have any of you ladies ever rented/purchased a fetal doppler?  I know they are on the expensive side so I wanted to ask to see if it is worth it before we spend the money to go out and get one.  I guess with my previous miscarriages the thought that something is wrong is always in the back of my mind and I want some reassurance.  Are they even safe to use on a weekly basis?

How often can you use them?  I don't want to give the baby any kind of birth defects simply b/c I'm paranoid!

What you are talking about is the ones that can detect the babies heartbeat at like five months. I got tricked into buying one of those and I cried because I couldn't hear the heartbeat. Alas later I leared that what these women are talking about are the kind the doctors use where you can detect it at 10-13 weeks. Much more reliable. :)

I got mine from baby beat too, it is really easy to rent one and we have never had a problem finding his heartbeat.  You can tell the difference of the blood flow to the uterus compared to the baby's heartbeat.  My husband is really good at it!

Thank you for your response. I am sorry for your loss, but HAPPY for your new pregnancy. I'm sure all will go WELL with this one. God is in control and had blessed you with a new life. Also you never know you may be expecting twins.

Lord knows I wasn't expecting twins, but it is truly a BLESSING. I am a faternal twin myself. I PRAY all goes well for me, you and all the expectant mothers.

Thanks for the info on the doppler it is very useful

I just looked on the websites and the cheapest one I found was a used one @ $200 a new one @ $400, and you can rent one for $24 month + insurance.  I too was pregnant with twins and miscarried at 19wks.  When I go in for my 1st ultrasound on the 7th I want them to tell me everything is ok; my husband wants them to tell him its twins!  I told him dont press his luck! LOL  But CONGRATS to you I'm sure all will be ok with your two that's on the way.

I too am interested in the fetal doppler; because I have experienced miscarriages in the past. My husband and I have an 8 year old daughter and have been trying for the last two years to have a baby. We found out last Friday that we are expecting twins, I am about 8 wks now. We are freaking out because I have been spotting since I found out. But, we took a trip to the E.R. this past Sunday and saw the two little ones with hearbeats. From what the docs said it is normal to spot, especially with twins and the extra adjusting to the body, but I still get depressed whenever I see spotting or discharge  So, I am very eager to obtain a doppler as it will ease some of the anxiety I have. Although, expensive we may decide to rent one in the very near future.
