Fetal Movements

I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow, and have a question about fetal movements.  Right now, I feel them very rarely.  Maybe a few times a day. . . but only ever few days.  I'll go several days without feeling anything.  I have a home doppler so I know the baby is okay.  Well, at least okay according to the heartbeat.

So, when does one start feeling fetal movements on a consistent basis?  And one can someone on the outside feel the kicks?

I got worried today because I have a friend who literally conceived on the same day I did, and she is feeling a ton of fetal movements.  Granted, she is having twins.  She's a larger woman, and I've heard larger women usually feel it later. Just makes me worried that I'm not progressing quickly enough.

Any thoughts?  When did you all start to feel it?  I'm a medium built woman. . . fyi.

yep it depends on the women, the baby, where your placenta is, and where the baby is...i felt the baby at 16 weeks and by 17 weeks i realized that i was feeling her...the father could feel her from the outside when i could..but ive always had a very flat tummy so i think that is why. the baby isn't normally moving consistently until about 26 weeks...but at my 24 week appointment the first thing outta the nurse's mouth was is the baby moving okay. so like i said i really think it depends on you and the baby. but at 19 weeks right now you have nothing to worry about. if your still worried you could call your doctor and she'll tell you when to be concerned...all doctors have different times to start counting/paying attention.

I had the same question to my doctor.at your stage, now wow the little bugger wont keep still.for me started about 30 weeks, although I had movements before.I could only feel them strong from that point, but for me my placenta was cusioning the baby,so couldnt feel much,ha certainly can now.

I started feeling little movements around 19 and half weeks.  My fiancee didn't get to feel them until about 23 weeks, cause he was shy lol.  And my MIL and SIL finally got to feel him for the first time about 26 weeks.  At 25 weeks he started actually pushing his hand or foot out of the side of my belly.  And he would play with my others.  Lol But he hasn't done that in about 2 weeks which makes me sad.  You will start to feel more rapid constant movements around 23 or 25 weeks. But now I'll be 28 weeks on Thursday and I barely feel him move at all. I think its cause he's running out of room, well at least I hope that's the reason. I go for my 7 month check up today, so I cant wait to hear his little heartbeat and see why hes slowing down movements again. First he slows down then he gets fast and he slows down again, I wish he'd quit playing games with mommy. lol... Good luck Id give it about 2 or 3 weeks before you start to worry about it.

usually after 22-24 weeks is when you start feeling more constant movement.  the baby is still small right now so you might only feel movements when the baby is near organs etc.  dont worry you will start feeling then constantly in a few weeks.

That depends completely on the baby and on the way you were built. My husband was able to feel the baby kicking my belly BEFORE I did, at 16 weeks (when i was deep asleep at night he'd touch my belly) and I started feeling the little movements at around 18 and visual at around 20. Then I didn't feel a good kick until I think 22 weeks. Don't worry you'll feel them soon enough. There are women that don't feel anything until 23 weeks and there are others that don't feel anything at all, ever (ie: those that don't find out they are pregnant until they give birth)
