Glucose test/fasting

Does everyone have to fast for the glucose test? My doctor didn't tell me whether I had to or not. She also told me to go in within the next week or two which is early. I'll only be 27 weeks by the end of that second week.

I had to fast for my 1 hour both pregnancies. No drinks or food after midnight the night before. So it all depends on your Dr. I failed my 1 hour by 3 points, my friend who's in another state did not have to fast, she had eggs the morning off and she failed by 9 points.

I have mine my next appoinmtment and they told me not to do anything different than normal. Tho I feel as if I'll at least eat a healthier breakfast than my usual muffin or bagel :P but don't starve yourself.

I had to fast 12 hours before the apt. No food or drink. Then they gave me this nasty "GlucoCrush" drink that made me feel like vomiting. I did a two hour and I passed. The only thing is they may have to pick your finger and keep squeezing blood out to get it because being temporarily dehydrated makes it hard to draw blood. Good luck!

With my first two kids I had the same doctor and he told me the appointment before when I was having the test and what I could or could not eat or drink before hand. With this pregnancy I have a different doctor because my other one retired and he didnt even tell me I was having a glucose test my last appointment or what I could or couldnt eat. I had an idea it might be last appointment or the next one but I wasnt exactly sure because he never said but I didnt eat or drink anything before that appointment just in case.

I didn't have to fast for the 1 hour test, was told just to eat non sugary items for breakfast. And to not eat a whole lot like so I'm really full. I did have to fast for the 3 hour test tho.

You can ask for the 1 hour test, you don't have to fast for that one. Just don't eat anything sugary and do it in the morning.

Did Mine This Past Friday , I Stopped Eating 8 Hours Before My Appointment . You Have To Fast For A Bit , That Way You Have A More Accurate Test .

I didn't have to fast for the 1 hour test. I just couldn't eat sugary foods like donuts. And you can't eat anything once you start. But I think if I had to do the next level  test I would have had to fast.

Aww good luck! Last time I had my blood drawn I hadn't eaten that day because we got up late and I ended up passing out. I just don't want that to happen again.

I'm taking mine this morning.  I had to fast, no food or drink after midnight. So let's just say I am really really hungry right now. But it should be over within the next hour. Hopefully I'll pass it!
