Thank you ladies! I actually saw a consultant today at WIC and it seems like it's working. Heit latch was good it's just my nipples getting used to it. She gave me some hydrogel pads to and gosh does it feel so much better. I mean it still hurts but there's some kind relieve after they're put on. Have any of you ladies used numbing cream? Or its there even such thing?
Put breast milk on your nipples and let them air dry. Also it's going to hurt for the first 3 weeks regardless. Especially the initial latch and let down of milk. But if u make it through the first 3 weeks and it's still hurting to where u think she isn't latching right I would see a consultant.
I would make sure she's latching right. I like coconut oil it seamed to work better than nipple creams for me. I'm not a fan of nipple shilds but if it come down to u quiting maybe that will help u or just pumping for a while till they heal alittle. I would only do those 2 things as last resort. I had the same problem with my first baby and it was all because of her latch. The lactation consultant really helped me.
I agree with the ladies above, a lactation consultant will help. Try contacting your health department for that info. As far as your nipple cracking and bleeding, purchase a nipple cream that will help tremendously. I have always used lansinoh and I used it after every feeding and showers. The pain will go away eventually if you can get through it. Believe me, it hurt just as bad with my second baby as it did with my first and it will hurt like heck with this one lol. If you choose to keep nursing, give it. A couple of weeks and it will start to get better. :)
Don't use the nipple shields the can cause your supply to slow down. It shouldn't be hurting like that. Call a lactation consultant they're free. And you're still new so it does hurt for awhile. And even after they get baby to latch correctly your nipples will still be sore but it will go away. I saw a lactation consultant and it was amazing I also benefited from watching YouTube videos on getting baby to latch
Breastfeeding isnt for everyone hun, im not saying YOUR not for it but im saying dont feel guilty if it is to hard on you and your body. I e never breastfed so I cant help you but I hope everything works out for you and your babygirl :-)
Seek a lactation consultant just to make sure she is latching correctly!
There is silicone membranes you can put over your nipple. Baby still gets milk and mom time and you have less pain.
Well I havnt had mine yet but what I heard that if its hurting then they baby is not laching correctly but I also heard thatbits normal since we are not use to doing that
