HPT Pos/Doctors Neg

PlEASE PLEASE help!!!! In the last week, I've taken 3 or 4 pregnancy tests. All pink dye, all positive. A couple faint positive but at least positive. I'm either 3w5d or 4w5d (not sure yet as I'm irregular.) Well, today I went to a walk-in clinic to get my pregnancy confirmed and get a referrel. The Doc there did a pee test and said, I'm not pregnant that his was neg. I told him about my positive and he said they're all falso positives!! Anyone have any similar experiences or any advice?

Thank you everyone for your support and advice. If it wasnt for this site I would have had a much harder time with this. However, I now know I am having a miscarriage. I wish you all the best of luck.

So, I was suppose to get my bloodwork results today. I called the Dr and all of a sudden, they refuse to give them to me over the phone. The doctor is 2 hrs away and I have no vehicle right now. So, still a waiting game.

Everyone has their own opinions in regards to pregnancy tests. I've heard a lot of negative stuff about clearblue. But, I wish you the best of luck. Keep me posted.

i double checked the htp with the hospital as the clear blue reseacher wanted it and it was definatly 8 as i thought that was weird. but that reasearcher told me it was a positive to her so when they send me my free didital test im going to do it again and see what the result is. my htp was suposed to be tested again 2 days after but they told me not to bother. the test was in date as it was a double pack my friend used the other it came up positive and she is having a healthy baby. i might just give my doctor a call tommorow and see what she says as she told me on tuesday that a positive clear blue is definatly pregnant :s

One last thing, there aren't any HPT that can detect and hcg hormone of 8. Usually 20 or higher. Check on the package aswell for that tests sensitivity

False positives are possible, but rare. There's a few ways you can get them.

However due to experience, having and hcg level of 8 is still negative. When ovulating the level can be between 5-10. The number Dr's like to see is below 5 however, anything under 10 is still considered negative.

If you're still concerned and confused go get your beta's checked in a couple days. If it goes up, you're pregnant.

Also, if you still have the box check the expiration date on the pregnancy test.

Let me know how everything goes.

Best wishes

The Doctor won't give me the referrel until he knows what's going on with my levels.

I've called several OBGYN's but they all go by doctor referrel. So I can't even refer myself.

On the bright side, still no cramping, spotting or any other signs of miscarriage.

I get my results tomorrow of my most recent beta so just keeping my fingers crossed.

Levels have to start somewhere, and it's to be expected that they would be low in early pregnancy. I've also read blogs where some women have slow rising levels, but go on to have normal pregnancies while others don't. There's a website called misdiagnosed miscarriage. com and it has a bunch of stories about things like that where women were told they were miscarrying, and some were, some weren't.

I also agree that the doctor you saw wasn't very compassionate. It's one thing to tell someone that they've had multiple false positive pregnancy tests, but then to come back and say that their numbers are really low seems absurd to me. All this doctor has done is caused you unecessary stress, in my opinion.

When will you be able to get a referral to an OB/GYN or midwife?

Also, like your previous doctor mentioned, the numbers themselves don't really matter; it's what the numbers do that matters. My midwife never even mentioned my levels being low at my first beta, and it was 199. By the next beta it had more than tripled. Good luck, try not to stress!

So, as expected I've been doing A LOT of thinking. And I was wondering is, if its normal in some cases to have a normal low hCg level??? The reason why I'm asking is because, I now remember with my son when I had my blood taken for confirmation the doctor (who used proper wording) said, that I must have found out really early according to my levels which cause no concern at that time. I also remember going for an ultrasound at like 5 weeks. So, I'm thinking that then my levels were low but I had a decent dr who chose the right wording to not cause concern. Make sense?

Its just a Doctor at a local walk-in clinic because I don't have a family doctor.

I am trying to get referrel to an OBGYN right away so I can ask all these questions and have these tests done before its too late.

The important thing is to not look too strongly into symptoms. It is very possible to miscarry and your body never realize it. My dad's girlfriend had a missed miscarriage and carried the baby for 10 weeks (she was out of the country and missed a few appointments) and never knew she had lost the child. Viable or not, you'll feel pregnant for as long as the hCG remains in the body.

However, I wouldn't worry too much. The level of the hCG isn't important. What is important is what your number does. Your doctor seems very....cold and uncaring. First he claims all your tests are false positives, and then says your levels are too low. I would think strongly about switching doctors to someone who actually seems to care. I would also have your doctors check your progesterone levels and see what they come back as. If they're low it can cause you to miscarry, and supplements could help you to support the pregnancy until you're out of the first trimester.

I've onyl been pregnant twice and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 weeks due to low progesterone. With Lexi it was really low as well and I had to take supplements. It's definitely good that you aren't bleeding! Trust me, I know how you feel when it comes to waiting. It's a nightmare and you can't relax at all!

The good thing is, I have NO bleeding, NO cramping and my symptoms of pregnancy seem to be getting stronger.

It is big time easier said then done, being that my last 2 pregnancies ended in miscarriage around 5-7 weeks.

You'd only be around 4-5 weeks pregnant, and I don't think your numbers are that low considering you're very early into your pregnancy. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to stress too much over it. I remember waiting on my results to come back, and it was torture. I was also bleeding heavily at the time.

Try not to worry, and we're hear if you need to vent! Keep me updated!

Yeah, I actually went today for another test. I'll have the results for that on Monday

See, I'm irregular but I know for a fact I conceived either July 15th or 22nd. I had what I think was implantation bleeding July 27th (just a tiny bit pink blood once)

I'm soo confused, stressed and worried about the stupid numbers. I just want this done.

Hmm. My first quant came back at 199 and I was exactly four weeks pregnant. You aren't THAT far off from what mine was, and my daughter will be 8 months old in four days. It isn't really how high the numbers are as much as how they are changing.

If you have another beta and it your numbers have dropped, then it usually is a good indicator that you're possibly having a miscarriage. Ideally, your hcg should double every 48 hours, and sometimes it can take up to 72 hours to fully double.

I personally don't believe that the doctor should have told you that your numbers are low, per se. The range for normal hcg levels is very vast and differs from woman to womand and pregnancy and pregnancy. Like I said, what matters is that they are rising appropriately.

Did they mention you coming back for a repeat beta?

Okay so my Quant HCG came back positive. But the dr said the levels are low. Only 109.

I would. Make sure that they do a QUANTITATIVE and not a QUALITATIVE. Quant will tell you your exact numbers, where qualitative will only say yes or no. The blood test will be able to tell you for sure what's going on. Personally, I have never heard of having that many false positives. I think dr's just dont want to admit that a hpt cand etect pregnancy before they can.

I've had 3 miscarriages in the last 10 months so I know what to watch for when it comes to that, and so far absolutely no signs of that either. I'm going to go request blood work tomorrow I think.
