HPT detects 100 miu of HCG

I'm taking a test this Thursday, I'll be 10DPO. I bought first response because thats what I used on my last pregnancy. Online I've read that it detects 100 miu of HCG...but than I read that e.p.t detects 40 miu of HCG...does that mean that first response tests need your hormones to be higher to detect pregnancy or is it the other way around? Just confused on what that number means because I'm only 10DPO so I'd be looking for an early positive and was trying to buy a test that would detect it the best! Thanks Ladies!

The thing is, I have no clue when I would be due so I can't go off my period or days early...the last period I had was Aug 22, than I got pregnant Sept 5th, miscarried in November, haven't had a period since. The only thing I have to go off of is that I know I Ovulated Dec 10th...so I'm trying to work off of that-it brings me to 9DPO tomorrow. I found this Calendar online, filled in some stuff and it said my period should come on Christmas...so if I tested on the 20th it would be 5 days before my missed period..I think I'm heading in that direction. Thanks for the advice!

I tested 4 days early with a First Response and got a positive. I think they tend to be very sensitive.

Thanks Ladies! Darn...I knew I should have gotten another brand and I should have known, with my first pregnancy...I got a negative result when I was very pregnant...I just stuck with this brand because I'm familiar with it and I like how it comes in 3's. Well I'm just gonna hope my HCG levels are high! And when I miscarried my doctor wrote me out a blood lab sheet so I could come back 4-6 to test my blood so I'm thinking of just going on Friday to get my blood tested, because if I get a negative HPT, it would most likely show up on the blood test right?
Thanks again Ladies, I appreciate the help!

I just read that First Response detects 25 MIU. Check out this site. It's a comparison site of different pregnancy tests and their sensitivities:

The higher the number, the later you have to take the test. But remember, the HCG levels double every 24-48 hours. So in three-seven days the First Response should work.

the EPT would detect earlier than the one that you have....to find out the soonest you want a test that detects at a low Hcg..I used EPT at 3 days before my expected period and got a +!  Good luck
