Havent taken my thyroid meds, 7 wks prego

I had part of my thyroid removed and I have been on synthroid medication for years but I wasn't very consistent with taking it. I have been tested even without being on my meds and still tested normal. For a year now, I haven't taken my meds and just found out 2 wks ago i was 5 wks pregnant. I have an appointment tomorrow to get my thyroid levels tested, but i have been spotting on and off for a week now. The color is more red colored now and it looks kinda grainy when I wipe and I found 1 tiny dark red clump. Im just using a panty liner and it is not filling up but there more there when I wipe. I have some mild cramping like Im on my period. Am I having a miscarriage?

I had hyperthyroidism in early pregnancy and was taking PTU, then went off and was still having lab draws, then with the last results my endocrinologist said I was on the low side of Normal, and she has now started me on L-thyroxine.
Talk about being messed up!
I was told that during pregnancy you should run on the high side of normal.
It is great you saw your endocrinologist-----very wise!
Good Luck!

Sorry I haven't read other poeples posts so I dont know if this has already been said but I went to get tested for Hypothroidism last night. My sister has it and she was told that if she doesn't take her thyroxine and she gets pregnant she will miscarry! My sister told me because she didn't get diagnosed with it until a few years ago so I might have ti and not know.
I'm guessing that if you have had part of your thyroid gland taken away then you will need to take thyroxine to compensate for the required amount not being made so i would suggest you take it Chick!
Sorry if you have already heard this :(

So thanks everyone for your comments and support. I went to the doctors yesterday and got my thyroid levels checked. Wont find out the results till tues. But they mentioned being that I was able to get pregnant not being on my meds must be a sign that my thyroid is working somewhat. They didnt have a sonographer available so
I went to another clinic to get an ultrasound and found out im only 4 weeks pregnant due to the size of the sac..I feel a little better that im not as far long as thought I was being that I can treat my thyroid sooner. As for the spotting, no news yet. They gave me a sheet of paper on miscarriages, and ectopic pregnancies. Its too soon to tell with the ultrasound and its nothing that can be prevented and unfortunately its something you have to wait out. Ugh! Keep everyone posted though and thank you!!

That is not true regarding your thyroid and pregnancy.  I have been on thyroid medication for the past 13 years and am now beginning the journey to achieve pregnancy.  I lost a baby at 15 weeks and the doctors suspect that it was due to the fact that my dosage for my levoxyl was off.  Then, I just lost another baby at 6 1/2 weeks.  This time the dosage was correct, but if you are taking medication for hypothyroidism and you are not taking it as recommended... this can most definitely have an effect on whether you will properly carry the child.  I don't mean to scare you, but it is key for your body to be on track before you begin trying to support another body.  If you google hypothyroidism and miscarriage, there will be a plethora of articles for you to read and educate yourself on the importance of taking your meds.  Good luck... and I hope you are not going through the beginning of a miscarriage.

Im not really sure, but this I know when I thought I couldnt get pregnant the first thing they were gonna test is my thyroid, and I think my pituitary gland, your Thyroid controls all sorts of things. I remember reading something about it but I'll have to look it up later on my computer at home I have all sorts of stuff saved on it. Also yesterday when I went in for some other issues they tested my thyroid dont know what the results were yet...

It's hard to know if you're miscarrying. I don't think your thyroid would affect having a miscarriage anyway. Some women bleed during pregnancy and it's normal. However the clots and worrisome. Definitely let us know how your appointment goes tomorrow! They'll probably test your HCG and progesterone levels as well. If not, REQUEST it.
