Hcg Levels someone help!

Hi ladies, I am hoping someone can clarify this for me. I went to my dr about 2 weeks ago to confirma pregnancy and it was negative. I went again this week (after taking 10 hpts at home... all positive) to confirm once more. They were able to confirm it and I had and ultrasound and quantative hcg level count done same say then again 48 hours later. The ultrasound tech told me I looked around 5 weeks pregnant but couldn't tell me for sure since it wasnt her job to do so. I just received a call from my dr and she told me my first hcg level was 2896 and now 48 hours later its 4969. She told me I couldn't be more than a week or two pregnant but I can't imagine how that could be. My levels are too high for one week. I know everyone has different levels but they range around the same. I should be around 4 to 5 weeks with levels like this. Could it be multiples? I know there was only one gest. sac onthe ultrasound  but I also know identical twins don't need two seperate sacs. Am I just worrying too much or can my dr be wrong? My dr has told me I don't need to see anyone for prenatal vistis until I am atleast 12 weeks which according to her should be in mid August. Should I get a second opinion? Or am I just so different that my levels are super high at such an early stage of pregnancy?

WHen you are 4-5 weeks the fetus is only 2-3 weeks along they count the two weeks prior whether you had a period or not. You should be able to see something in the uterus around HCG levels being over 2000. Level mean nothing at this point though really! The two things they look for is that they double every 48 hours and that they are not to high but don't double right. My levels tripled and doubled for over a week and I am only having one. This has happened when I was and was not pregnant with more then one. Usually they will double in 24 hours after a few eeks which is aorund 6-7 weeks with multiples but don;t always. Every pregnancy and very woman is differnent! I had an us at 4 weeks 2 days and saw the sac and fetal pole but could not get a good read on the heartbeat at that point. The earlier you have an us the more accurate as to your due date and what they will go by. I would not worry that you are further cuz they will just watch the baby. You could of had early implantaion and known you were pregnant. I would take the signs you are having to be good signs and there to reasure you that everything is ok and tha tbby is there:) And if later you find out you are having twins wonderful! They do not always show up (both) till up to 8-9 weeks along. I would juat make sure they get HCG levels at least once a week in 2's 48 hours apart and also a us weekly. Best of luck and yes get to an OB asap the earlier the better in prenatal care! Especially when you have had mc in the past. Also have them check your progesterone levels!! That can make pregnancy symptoms worse if it is low and can cause mc. Best of luck to you!

Thanks ladies well she told me since I tested negative about 12 days before I wasn't pregnant. I know she tested both urine and blood and got a negative result. I am not worried as to whether i will misscarry but I am worried that she does not have the right estimate about how far along I am. I hadn't had a period in about 4 months so she is confused about when I should have ovulated or concieved. I feel extremely pregnant. I have two daughters and two miscarriages and I know how it feels to be more than one week pregnant! I also told her that if the sac was there how could I be about 2 weeks? I figured around 4 or 5. I am havin severe pregnancy symptoms so severe they hurt! I can't even put a shirt on! None of my pregnancies were like this at all. I think I will try to get a second opinion and start seeing an OBGYN ASAP! I also dont see how I would get a positive result 8 days after I tested negative at the drs office. All my tests were taken mid day and were bright pink! I took 10! All positive!

At what I thought was 5 weeks my levels were 1317 and then three days later i was 5197. Ultrasound (vaginal of course) identified me to be one week earlier. I think your levels can just vary from person to person not saying whether you are having multiples or not. Your levels actually sound about right...As far as the 12 week thing? My doctor saw me every two weeks up until now and I am 9 weeks (will go again in one month). Here is some useful information that may help you with your levels:

Guideline to hCG levels during pregnancy:
hCG levels in weeks from LMP (gestational age)* :

3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml

* These numbers are just a GUIDELINE-- every woman’s level of hCG can rise differently. It is not necessarily the level that matters but rather the change in the level.

Did she give an explanation as to why she said you couldn't be no more than one to two weeks pregnant? You wouldn't be able to see the gestational sac if you were only one or two weeks pregnant because it starts to appear around 4 weeks of pregnancy. I would get a second opinion.
