How accurate are the ultrasound tech about gender?

Okay I got my ultrasound done yesterday and we found out it was a girl. But I didnt get to see it because i was on my side when she did it because the baby wouldn't open the legs. So I didn't get to see the baby gender myself. But the tech said it was a girl. But how accurate are they? Did anyone had this said to them and when they gave birth it wasn't the gender they was told?

Thank you. Well the tech said she was 99% it was a girl. At first the baby didnt want to open her legs so it took a long time for us to find out but when the baby finally did. She check and said it was a girl. But i didnt see the picture myself to reasure me that it was a girl. Shoot can they do anything for me if im unsure like show me the ultrasound picture or something? I dont know. Because i already got some baby girls clothes and stuff from people. So i hope its a girl

I have a friend who was told she was having a girl - and she had a boy, so yes that can definitely happen.

Last time, we didn't want to know the gender but this time we did.  After a LOT of looking (we're talking 45 minutes +) she said she "thought" it was a girl.  So I asked her to put a percentage of certainty on that, and she said 60-70%.  That's not really high in my opinion - we've kept the nursery gender neutral and haven't purchased ANYTHING pink.

Sometimes, babies just don't cooperate, and there's not much you can do about it.  Personally, I love having the surprise - I'm due on Tuesday and can't wait to find out if we're having a little girl or a little boy! :-)

From what I was told is that there not aloud to say anything at all unless they are over 60% sure.  Girls are really hard to detect rather then boys, so for her to tell you its a girl, I'm sure that's what it is.  With mine, I knew it was a boy, I seen the parts.. lol.. But they also wouldn't put that picture on my CD Rom, cause I asked for it, and she told me that its not necessary and that they don't take pictures of that cause that's not whats important.  But If your really unsure and cant help but to second guess it then I would get a 3d u/s if you can

They can be wrong and I am not sure why they would not give you a picture of it in the first place!!!!

THey look for a turtle with a boy and a hamburger with a girl. Funny but true. Mine has a screen up on the wall so you do not have to turn your head while it is happening and you see the whole thing. If you get another one I would insist on being able to see and have a picure of it. I do not know the percent of accuracy. it all depends on the machine and tech I think so it would be different with each one.

It has never happened to me with 5 kids but I know someone who was told back in the early 90's htat it was a girl and she had two boys and so she decorated the room in pick being so exccited. Then when he came out he was a very big boy! She had nothing that was not pink!!!! Only the diapers:) So hopefully they will do another us for you so you see it! ALso ask to see your records as they do stick pictures in there and they may have one. LAso it will say what percentage usually they think it is.
