okay...sounds like i may in fact get AF, she just might be late and a little unusual. thanks ladies.....i feel better now that i know what to expect somewhat...
I have never tracked my periods or ovulation dates to get pregnant, I just happen to be very fertile. I do remember with this pregnancy, about 1 week before I tested positive for being pregnancy, that I had cramping and discharge as if I was going to start my period.
I even skipped going grocery shopping and a doctors appointment because of fear I would start in public without a place to go to take care of it.
I know implantation can cause the same symptoms of starting a period, light bleeding, cramping and so forth.
From what my OBGYN said, if you aren't ovulating than your cycle will be off. I had what I thought was AF twice within a 2 weeks period (AF/spotting for 5 days then 7 days later AF/spotting again for 5 days). OBGYN said that I'm not producing enough progesterone, therefore not ovulating and my body is going to keep spotting every 2 weeks or so. So yes, if you don't OV then you may get some type of AF bleeding but it might be because of lack of progesterone or other horomonal issues. My "AF" was more like heavy spotting but nothing like what my AF's usually are. I myself am confused about how to track my cycle, but my body has been so messed up for so long that I give up trying. I am on Prometrium 200mg for 12 days to help regulate my cycle and hopefully start OVing! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Anovulatory Cycle
By definition, an anovulatory cycle is a menstrual cycle in which ovulation fails to occur. This means that you do bleed but do not release an egg or ovulate. Hence the term anovulation.so you will bleed but it will probably be late, its very common for women to experience this.unless its regular i wouldnt worry about it.if you dont ovulate for a few cycles you may want to discuss with your doctor...so you will bleed eventually, then you can start your ov tests again.hope this helps.
thanks girl....thats helpful info but it kinda contrasts from everything i've always heard. I thought women on here had said their periods were late or nonexistent if they didn't O. hope someone can tell me if they still have cramping like they're on AF even if they didn't O.....
ugh....all the confusing things are bodies do to us!! :)
thanks for your help!
I COPIED AND PASTED THIS hope it helps with one of your questions
The term Ovulation refers to the process that occurs whenever a mature egg gets released from the ovary of a woman. This egg is pushed down the fallopian tube, and then becomes available to be fertilized by sperms. During ovulation, the lining of the uterus gets thickened so as to prepare for a fertilized egg. How ever, If no conception occurs, that is when the egg does not get fertilized by a sperm, the uterine lining will be shed. Along with the uterine line, some blood is shed too. This is the blood you see during your period. The shedding of an egg that has not been fertilized and the shedding of the uterine wall what is referred to as menstruation.
There fore, if you have not yet gotten your period, that does not mean that you will not ovulate. You will ovulate before your period comes. In fact there is not really an established connection between the two. Ovulation can occur even if you are not menstruating and you can even get your period even if you have not ovulated. If there has to be a connection, then your period will come after you ovulate and not the other way around. You ovulate before you get your period instead of getting your period before ovulating.
