Is it okay to do stomach stretches in 1st trimester?

I have been trying to do some exercises since I hear that exercise tends to lighten up nausea/morning sickness. My stomach has been feeling sore (muscle wise -- like after an ab workout) I normally like to do bridges (lay on back then raise self up so only feel and hands are on the floor, stomach is in air) to relieve this type of pain, is it okay to do this during the first trimester?

I have done yoga my whole life and prenatal yoga. As long as your doc approves it a bridge is fine. It's one of our poses in yoga too. Working those muscles lightly will help prepare for delivery

no not safe moderate excersize is safe such as swimming, walking, anything low impact but avoid anything that stretches out your belly muscles no crunches situps, stretching. it can be harmful to baby and you during pregnancy

I would talk to a doctor about it, there are a lot of changes going on in your body and you might be risking an injury. Just to be on the safe side. Try looking up some pregnancy exercises on google to find the safest stretches until you can talk to your doctor about it.

I forgot to say that I also had a hemorrhage my first trimester, not from working out, just because my body is ridiculous. That probably aided in my doctors advice.

My doctor recommended to stay away from ab work outs for the most part. Because I was an avid exerciser before pregnancy, he said it was ok to do really light stuff dealing with abs. I do know you are supposed to avoid twisting your ab area so I am guessing that doing a bridge would not be the best. I am sure you are fine, just be cautious. I have had a hard time with my dwindling work outs, now that I am 28 weeks, I am pretty much all about yoga, light jogging, and arm work outs. It can be frustrating not being able to work out like I used to but I just remember, it is only temporary!

I guess I could have also called it a "back bend" -- sorry, so used to cheerleading terminology
