Is my girlfirend faking a pregnancy??

A week ago my girlfriend(20yrs) claimed that she was pregnant after taking a pregnancy test at a health clinic. Two days later she retracted & said she was not and there was some mix-up. Again a day later she claimed to have tested positive for pregnancy at the same clinic. After this I insisted on taking her to a clinic to double check & also to underatake abortion but she flatly refused sayin that she will go alone. She later claimed to have gone to the doctor and got abortion pills but the names of the pills dont seem to match with any known abortion pills. Moreover its been 4 days now an there is still no bleeding of any sort. She claims that abortion may take upto 5 days. What is taking a toll on me is the fact that she has been literally harrassing me by continuously fighting, insulting me for no reason since the day she claimed to have tested +ve. What are the possiblities that she is pregnant?? How many & what are the names of the abortion pills available in market??
Why is she behaving this way???

No problem. Just know that you need to talk to her and tell her that's the WORST lie that someone could come up with! seriously.  Tell her if she wants to keep you that's not the way to do it, but rather she should talk to you about how much she cares about you.

Good luck.

Hi Everyone.....Thanks a ton for your comments. The issue has been resolved. Yesterday she confessed that she had lied to me about her pregnancy. We had been going through a very rough patch in our relationship recently and she was scared that i was gonna break up with her n thats the reason she came up with is story.
I went ballistic initially but calmed down later on thinking that she did this just coz she didnt wanna lose me.
Anywayz things have normalized now. Thanks again for your postings. God Bless.

As others have stated, you can't make someone have an abortion.. Only give your opinion and hope she listens to it.. Abortion is something she will have to live with forever.. so it's not to take lightly. And, their could be complications with abortions.
If she turns out to be pregnant, support her and your child as you should take responsibilty to your actions...UNLESS, she really indeed faked a pregnancy, I would say that is one relationship that I wouldn't want to be apart of.. Children change your life, and saying I'm pregnant, is a sure way to get guys moving! I'm sure....Ask her to take a pregnancy test infront of you like someone else mentioned. If she get's defensive then, I would say it's iffy... Just ask her in a calm mannor and tell her you just want to know for yourself.

So as joy said... support her and the pregnancy if she's pregnant.. or leave her if she's lying to you... If you choose to stay with her and she is not pregnant, use other forms of birth control..if you do not want to be a father.. Sometimes, condoms arn't enough.. Birth control pills sometimes arn't enough either. Using them both together will help. Just becareful when it comes to sex. Good luck.

You said:

If I was pregnant and my boyfriend wanted me to have an abortion I wouldn't tell him either if I really was.

My question if you want her to have an abortion why do you care if she is pregnant?

While I don't understand why she'd lie about being pregnant... But if she is pregnant she probably feels you are pushing her into an abortion she doesn't want. Perhaps she is scared. If she doesn't want an abortion she doesn't have to have one. It is completely HER decision.

She could start arguments, blame you for other things, etc. My suggestion to you is to 1). be supportive of her and the pregnancy or 2). leave her. Sounds like an unhealthy relationship.

Well, this is what I found on the situation.  BUT you can't force her to do it if she doesn't.  Sorry to say, but you can only voice your concern!

Medical Abortion with Mifepristone and Misoprostol
What is the Medical Abortion?

Medical Abortion (brand name Mifeprex) is a form of early abortion caused by the combination of two medications, mifepristone and misoprostol that is an option for women who are 8 weeks pregnant or less. Also known as RU486 or medication abortion.

During the first appointment at the clinic you receive the mifepristone pill to take orally. Then 24 to 72 hours later, in the privacy of your own home, you take the the second medication, misoprostol. Misoprostol causes contractions resulting in a miscarriage. When used in combination, mifepristone and misoprostol are 95-97% effective within two weeks. Mifepristone and misoprostol are FDA approved.

How Does It Work?

Mifepristone blocks the hormone progesterone needed to maintain the pregnancy. Because this hormone is blocked, the uterine lining begins to shed, the cervix begins to soften and bleeding may occur. With the later addition of the second medication, misoprostol, the uterus contracts and the pregnancy is usually expelled within 6 to 8 hours.

Because the woman chooses when she takes the second medication within the time frame of 24 to 72 hours after the first medication, she has some control over the timing of when she expels the pregnancy and experiences the side effects of bleeding and cramping. Some women choose the Medical Abortion because of the privacy it offers. Some women feel empowered by taking an active role in the process.

Use

At your first appointment at the clinic, an ultrasound is performed to confirm you are less than 8 weeks pregnant. You then speak with an experienced counselor who explains how mifepristone and misoprostol work and makes sure you get answers to all of your questions. Your health history is carefully reviewed and if you meet the criteria, the doctor will give you the mifepristone to take orally. You are also given one bottle containing four tablets of misoprostol to be used 24 to 72 hours after taking mifepristone. If this first dosage fails to induce a miscarriage, please call the clinic to receive instructions on using your back-up misoprostol tablets.

What To Expect

Upon taking mifepristone at the clinic you may begin to bleed. As each woman's body is different, bleeding varies from woman to woman. Some may experience light bleeding much like spotting towards the end of a menstrual period. Others have heavier bleeding like their regular menstrual period, or like a heavy period. Some women do not experience any bleeding until taking the misoprostol.

Upon taking the second medication misoprostol tablet, cramping, bleeding, and clotting may begin as soon as 20 minutes. Within the next 6 to 8 hours, most women will miscarry. Cramping may come in waves with increasing and decreasing intensity. You can expect bleeding heavier than a menstrual period with large clots. During this time, you will pass the embryo although you may not see it since it is very small. The amount of bleeding when using the Medical Abortion is greater than with aspiration abortion.

Aftercare

A follow-up exam is scheduled for two weeks later to make sure the process is complete. If you have not yet miscarried, we will perform a aspiration abortion. A very small percentage (5%) of women do not pass the pregnancy tissue and need a suction procedure to complete the process.

Side Effects

Most of the side effects when using this early abortion option are caused by the second medication, misoprostol. Side-effects may include heavy bleeding, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and heavy cramping.

Risks

Vaginal bleeding with medical abortion could be extremely heavy. In rare situations it could require a aspiration abortion and very rarely, a blood transfusion. You will be given our 24-hour hotline number to call if you have any problems. Medical staff are on call at all times to answer your medical questions and concerns.

If pregnancy is continued after taking these medications, there is a high risk of fetal deformities.

Criteria

Abortion Medication may be an option if you:

Are less than 8 weeks since your last menstrual period.
Are willing and able to give informed consent.
Have the support you need such as access to reliable transportation and ability to communicate with the clinic by telephone.
Live no more than 2 hours away from emergency medical care (a hospital).
Are able to come back to the clinic for 1 to 3 follow-up appointments.
Agree to have a surgical abortion if the misoprostol does not induce termination.
Your Health

Due to the risk of serious health problems, mifepristone and misoprostol may not be recommended if you:

Have had a blood clotting problem or are taking anticoagulant medicine.
Have severe anemia.
Have adrenal failure.
Are taking long-term systemic corticosteroids.
May have an ectopic pregnancy.
Have a mass in the tubes or ovaries.
Have inherited porphyria.
Have an allergy to mifepristone, misoprostol or other prostaglandin medicine.
Have severe diarrhea.
Future Fertility

According to studies of the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the National Abortion Federation, there are no known long term risks associated with using mifepristone and misoprostol. Therefore, women may pursue another pregnancy whenever they feel the time is right after having a Medical Abortion.

Other Options For Early Abortion

If you are at least 6 weeks by ultrasound, you can choose to have a surgical abortion, in which the cervix is dilated and suction aspiration is used to remove the tiny pregnancy.

Another option may be a chemical or medical abortion using Methotrexate. Ask at the clinic about your particular circumstances.

No Confusion

Do not confuse Medical Abortion with the "Morning After" Emergency Contraception Pills (brand name Plan B). They are completely different medications taken for different purposes.

Emergency Contraception Plan B contains the same hormones as in regular birth control pills; Plan B prevents pregnancy after sex when taken within days after unprotected intercourse. Emergency Contraception will not harm an existing pregnancy.
Medical Abortion pills cause pregnancy termination and are used after pregnancy is established.

I have to agree with Alaysha. ASK her to take a pregnancy test infront of you. No matter how hard you try, you cannot force any woman to do something she does not want to do, like have an abortion. If any man that got me pregnant told me to have an abortion, I would pack my belongings and leave without looking back, IF YOU AS A GROWN MAN cannot take responsability for a pregnancy or child, or do not want a pregnancy and child I strongly advise you to either use protection like a condom and birth control or to NOT be sexually active under any circumstances PERIOD!

You made an adult decision to have intercourse, and you should make the adult decision to pay the consequences.

make her take a test (go buy it yourself if need be) and make her take it in a place you both know (your house, hers etc.) and see whta it shows. even IIF she's taken the abortion bills there may be enough HCG to show positive in her pee. otherwise she's messing with you.

Its very possible that she is pregnant. Best way for you to personally tell is to have her take a pregnancy test in front of you. I recommend a first response gold digital which you should be able to buy at any store. If however she is pregnant it isn't your decision whether or not she gets an abortion. It is HER decision. What could cause the anger is that she is indeed pregnant, doesn't want an abortion, lied to you about the abortion pills and now feels anger at you for trying to make her do something she doesn't want to.
