Is there something wrong with my newborn?

I just had a baby, he is 5 days old now, and im very worried about him.  I know all newborns do is sleep,  cry and eat, but last night he slept all through the night, like from 1 to 7 in the morning.  thats so not normal is it? is there something wrong with him, plus i even had to wake him up at 7, he prolly wouldnt have gotten up on his own, and when i did wakehim up he didnt even cry for a bottle like usual he just waited patiently for me to make it, and he didnt cry during his diaper  change, he hates his diaper change.. is there something wrong or am I being a crazy first time mom?

i would talk to his doctor because my sons pediatrician said even if he slept 6 hours, let him, dont wake him. only wake him if he sleeps up to 6 hrs.  wake him and feed him.  all babies are different.  he may be a little more hungry at each feeding where a baby that eats every 3 hours may only take half the amount at feeding time.

Enjoy it! My girls are both big sleepers too. I was so worried and asked the Dr about it and she told me not to worry. They are still sleepers to this day, both my two year old and my 8 month old go to bed at 8:00pm and wake up at 11:00am...they just LOVE their sleep and so do I >:)

Just share your concerns with your son's pediatrician, if you're still worried.  My little guy (he's 4 months old now) was able to go a good 5 hours between feedings from day 1 - better than his big brother even (my first got up 2 times a night in the beginning).  If the baby's healthy and thriving, then I wouldn't be waking him up every 3-4 hours - unless your doctor specifically tells you to.....my SIL was told to wake our nephew up every 2 hours (which is what they still tell you at the hospitals around here!!) and he started expecting feedings every 2 hours around the clock, including in the middle of the night.....and this continued until he was big enough to not be needing feedings so frequently anymore, it was difficult to wean him of the habit.

did he get more yellow at all from the Jaundice?  because if the jaundice is getting worse it can make him sleepy, other wise he probably just likes his sleep. but check his coloring and his eyes.

Did he it quite a bit before he went to sleep? with all 3 of my kid's they loved their sleep (especially the first one) and what they would usually do it cluster feed, meaning they would eat like every hour for 3 hours then sleep for 6 hours then eat again evey hour for 2 hours or so. my Dr told me it was fine to let them sleep the 6 hours if they wanted (but not to go longer than that) sinc ethey were eatting quite  bit before and after! usually you want to wake them up atleast every 4 hours though, since he is so small still. was he acting wierd in any other way? or just sleeping?

I wouldn't worry, some babies just really like their sleep.  Just make sure you wake him up to eat ATLEAST every 3-4 hours. As long as he will eat when you do wake him and he's having an adequate amount of wet and stinky diapers per day I wouldn't worry too much.  He should be due for a pediatric check up in a few days so if it makes you feel better, mention it then and see what is said.  Like Julz034 said, if you are able to wake him up and get him coherent and eating then he's fine.

You should wake him up to feed him every 3-4 hours at such a young age. While in the hospital my baby did the same thing, she slept through feedings and the nurse said it was important to wake her up to eat or else her blood sugar would drop and she'd be even more lethargic. Since I'm breastfeeding I had to pump some milk and get her to take a bottle during that time because she wouldn't open her mouth to breastfeed. She's 16 days old now and has been waking for her feedings regularly. She has yet to sleep through the night lol. Congrats to you and there's nothing wrong and you're not crazy!

Congrats on the new baby!! =) He's a doll baby too! That is absolutely normal what he is doing. Be happy, that means you got some sleep, well you were probably up worrying so maybe not! =) It is normal for them to do that. The hospital I deliver at says, if they don't wake up, then wake them up to feed them every 4 hours! They will snooze away if you let them. They're not used to having to wake up yet to be fed. When their little bellies get hungry enough then they will cry!! He's just having a good day, that's all =) If you woke him up and he still was trying to sleep or you could not arouse him and wake him up THAT is when you need to be concerned. But if you woke him up, and he woke up and ate he is just fine!! Make sure he is wetting his diapers.. if he goes awhile with dry diapers that is also a cause for concern.. But he sounds just fine. I would like to add to everyones situation is different, we're not Dr.'s, so if you still feel in your gut something is wrong with him, always always call your Dr. don't let anyone tell you different. They know you're a new Mom and expect the phone calls!!

Congrats on the baby, with my son I had to wake him up to have his 4hr feeds otherwise he would just sleep right through, my son was fine and hardly ever fussed for a feed. Just set an alarm and wake him up because these feeds are important. The only time you really need to worry is when he isn't putting on weight.
