Is this Normal?

My son will be 3 Months old on Sunday and for the past week or so he has been sleeping SO much during the day. He will have his morning bottle and than be awake for 20 minutes and than fall asleep for 2 hours...wake up for half an hour before his next bottle and he pretty much follows that pattern all day until after dinner time. After dinner he is pretty much awake until bed time. And to boot he has been sleeping really well! So his naps during the day are not affecting how long he sleeps at night. But I'm concerned that he's sleeping too much, I feel like he's never awake during the day anymore inbetween bottles...and if he is, its only for about 30 minutes!

Is that Normal? When are they sleeping too much during the day? He just seems so exhausted! He falls asleep on his own!

Thanks Ladies! I wasn't concerned about him being unresponsive because when he is awake he is so alive and full of life! But it just seemed he was napping so much during the day, I didn't know if they went through that at a certain age or something.

He just is always so tired! After he eats, he plays for 20 minutes and than either gets cranky and we rock him to sleep or he just passes out. And I was just worried that he was sleeping too much and it was going to come back and bite me in the ***!

But if its a growth spurt...that means he wont be doing this too much longer? (not that I mind..I'm getting so much more done ha ha) Well at his rate, he's growing each and everyday!!

Thanks again ladies!

Probably a growth spurt.  That happened with Mikayla a fews ago when we started her on 6oz.  One day she was awake the entire day! She only slept maybe 2 hours and that was it!  Then sometime last week she started sleeping more during the day but still slept fine at night.  Mikayla is always awake pretty much from 6pm-bedtime too.  So it could most definitly be a growth spurt.

I was going to say what Joy said. Sounds like a growth spurt.

When babies go through growth spurts they may eat more, sleep more, be awake more, etc. Each little one is different. So it could be that he is just needing some extra sleep to grow some more.

So long as he isn't lethargic and unresponsive while he is awake he is most likely fine.
