it takes a few days for the glucose test to come back. your dr will call you right away if it is high but if its normal they usually wait til your next scheduled visit to tel you it is normal.
yeah the machines read crazy if the baby is moving all around. even the dopplers the dr uses each appt can go nutz if the baby starts swimming around.
I know it, the second she hooked it up he was kicking up a storm!
Also i want to add that the further along you are the heartbeat will slow down some. During my first induction (that didn't work) his hb went up to 188 and they were considering a section. BUT they would show the strip to the Dr and if there was a problem they woud've called
Funny how you don't feel the babe moving then when you worry enough about it and go to L&D he's kicking up a storm!!! That happened to me twice, once at 21 weeks and again at 32 weeks. My boy didn't like being on the moniter and the longer we werew on the madder he'd get, one time i even had to call and ask to be taken off it cause he was hurting me kicking so much
Yeah I guess that machine is really old though, and my nurse/ob office wasn't worried about it, his heart was in the normal range when he was directly under it, so I'm not worried about it.
I would still check this out with your doctor...because, like I said, I was hooked up for 4 hours also on Friday and when the machine lost the hb, it just went blank and then another second it picked it up just about where it left off...I don't think that is normal for the machine to error like that...unless if it is a really messed up machine...I wouldn't accept that answer from a nurse and if so, I wouldn't want to be hooked up to that machine again.
The glucose test takes a day or a few days for it to be sent to your ob...mine said if there was no problem he wouldn't call, and if there was a problem he'd call.
I think they send the results to my OB. I will get to know in my next appt. If the results come earlier than that, doctor might call me with the results. Hopi g to get a normal result.
Me too! Do you get the results the same day, or does it take a while to get the results back??
I am glad to hear that baby is fine. These machines...they scare you. I am taking the test today too. Hoping to get normal results.
I called today and asked my nurse about it and she said that the jumps from 96 to 210 was when the machine was searching for the baby's heartbeat, and unless the baby was right under the monitor it wouldn't read it accurately, she said when he was directly under it he was between 130-140, and he's completely fine, thank god! Now I just have to pass my glucose test today :X
well you know machines... they can always screw up. But to be honest not to scare you but i read that a hb that jumps like that can SOMETIMES mean heart problems but researched who do descover the babies with heart conditions turn out healthy and normal. i forgot what the term was. But it wasnt too serioud though. I was looking it up because one day my baby's heart would slow down fast then speed up real fast even skip i think. Keep us up to date! It could be just an error. It is a type of computer so you cant 100% rely on those.
I'm 25W4D, the nurse said he looked fine, that it was "variability" and the machine wasn't reading his h/b correctly the entire time I was there, it wasn't always up that high, it ranged between 130-150 most of the time I was there, but a few times it shot right up or right down, I have my glucose test tomorrow so I think I'm just going to stop in and ask them about it! I hope everything is okay!
Don't worry! Everything will be alright. How far are you in your pregnancy? Try to get hold of your doctor and get his/her opinion. I am not sure why the heart beat was fluctuating. I would like to think it was the monitor.
I've tried calling L&D all day and they didn't answer, I understand it getting really low as the monitor loses the H/B but I don't understand how they could pick up a h/b of 210 without it actually being 210! I hope I get ahold of them soon though.
Hmmm....that is unusual about the hb...I was in L&D on Friday because I fell on my stomach and I was hooked up for four hours and they said any hb below 110 was a worry and any hb over 170 was a worry. It is normal for the hb to be 'lost' for a second or two due to movements...the first time it happened to me I freaked!
I'm sure your doctor will follow up with you if he has a concern though. You could always call him too if you are concerned.
