Looking for opinion in high risk pregnancy....please

Well im sure most of you women know my pregnancy history. Just in case ill sum it all up. My first child was a healthy normal pregnancy with no complacations. My second was born at 33weeks 5days for unknown reason. There were no known complacations either. My third pregnancy ended in mc april 2nd. With my 3rd i had a us at 9 weeks, march 4, but told fetus was only 7 and heart beat was heard. Then march 30 began to bleed went to er and was told id mc anytime. I was also told fetus was 8weeks in size. Now in your opinion when i fall pregnant again do you think id be a higher risk patient? Im trying to get an answer from my obgyn but she is no help right now. Ive even called my old obgyn in las vegas looking for help. Thank you for your time and responce.

DF is ok with me not working but i miss working and helping out more. ugh this is all so hard.

i am considered high risk each and every preg going forward because i have to use heparin for a blood clotting genetic disease i have....before they found out i have this disease i lost 2 babies including 1 at 15 weeks that I almost hemorraged to death when it happened

im also at high risk for preterm labor and pre ececlemysia because of that awful miscarriage...my doc says its much better to be safe than sorry

as for pre term labor they may not consider you high risk but may give you the option of the 17P shot for women who are high risk for pre term birth....they also may just watch you closer in the 3rd trimester...it truly is up to the doc and how they want to handle your situation

I am considered high risk every time I get pregnant. My first child was born at 33 weeks and passed away due to complications from a genetic disorder, which WAS NOT discovered on NST's or Ultrasounds, it was discovered only after an autopsy was done, as the disorder is very rare.

My second child- Cleared for take off after a ton of genetic counseling, but he was healthy and was born a day before his due date.

My 3rd child- Was deemed extra high risk, because of the genetic disorder with my daughter, and because I carried massive amounts of fluid, and his Down Syndrome test(not sure the technical term) came back at a very high number for my age. He was also breech until 39 weeks. He was born healthy and happy 2 weeks before his due date, and absolutely no signs of downs syndrome.

My 4th child- Was easy peasy as far as delivery went and the pregnancy. However I had sciatica really bad, and heart burn, but nothing major.

Now I am on my 5th baby! And so far so good, however because of my daughters death from the genetic disorder, I am considered high risk. However, I have asked my doctor here in Iowa to PLEASE save me the heartache and stress and not require me to see a genetic counselor. I have seen a Genetic Counselor with every single pregnancy besides this one.

Thank you for the doctor information. I currently live in Anaheim and was going to women health center in yoba linda seeing Dr. tatsis. Not sure if you or anyone else has heard of her or the medical group but i always felt rushed and was never called back for any reason. I will contact those facilities, thank you again.

as LosingMyMindinGA I had Oligohydramnios my first pregnancy. he also had down syndrome and a genetic disorder called EHK.

I'm now high risk each pregnancy I have according to the high risk doctor.

Dolphin05  I'm in Socal and you should check out either Loma Linda Childrens Hospital (LLUMC)

OR Riverside hospital, or even USCA. I have experience with this.

Again it all really depends on the doctors.  Some have higher criteria for considering a patient high risk.  Good luck with the new doctor search!

I was thinking the same thing but just not sure if i would be the whole time or just later on. The stupid obgyn my insurance gave me out here did not even seem concerned i had a preterm birth. we are currently ttc again and im looking for a new doctor. I so wish i could just go to my old doctor in vegas, she was the best.

I think you will be High risk once you are well in a pregnancy, just because of your preterm labor

I was just wondering because with my 3rd pregnancy i was told i was at high risk of another premature birth. Then went on to mc, missed as well, had d&c on april 2nd. Then i have issues with my cervix of if u touch it i bleed. Im guessing that is from scar tissue and having pre cancerous cells due to contracting hpv 7 yrs ago. All i can do is wait and see i guess.

It's unlikely.  But it would really depend on your doctor.  I've had issues with some of my pregnancies and never been considered high risk.

1st: oligohydramniosis (lack of fluid), growth restriction, breech-emer c-section at 40 wks
2nd:  miscarriage at 9 wks 5 days (missed-required d & c)
3rd: no complications, was a question about his heart beat but after several NST's they determined it was fine-he was stillborn at 38 weeks due to a cord accident
4th:  at 20 wk scan they found a cyst in her brain, within 2 months it was resolved. I did have biweekly nst's and afi's but other than that nothing special
5th:  everything was perfectly normal, they did biweekly nst's and afi's all was fine
6th: miscarriage at 5 weeks (natural)
7th: nothing of concern..induced on due date.
8th: so far nothing special, no extra monitoring or anything.

So, even with my history and the fact that with my last preg and this one I've developed collapsed surface veins in my legs and a vericose vein (you don't wanna know where) I dont' get any 'special' treatment.  Some doctors are more willing to give you extra attention if you have a history of loss though.

I know many women who have had children then had a miscarriage and then go on to have other children with no problems. I agree with Clysta that you generally would have to have multiple losses or problems to be considered high risk.I hope everything goes well with your next pregnancy.

it really is tough to say...since you previous preg that resulted in a live birth they may not consider you high risk....however they may just watch for signs much closer....however from moving from different states and different preg i have also learned that different docs handle these types of situations different ways...it would be up to your doc to determine if you would be high risk but my gut says no unless there is a symptom that would lead you to be high risk

I don't think you would. You've only had a single miscarriage and two pregnancies with no complications. I think to be called high risk you would have to have had multiple miscarriages or pregnancies with problems. (though I could be horribly wrong in all of this)
