Low amniotic fluid?

I am 34 weeks and just went and had yet another ultra sound done today.  The tech said the amniotic fluid was 7cc and seemed worried.  Said she didn't know what my doctor would want to do about this.  I have been on bed rest now for a little over 2 months for high blood pressure and I always have protein in my urine.  I go and see the doctor every week and have non stress test every week.  I go and see the doctor tomorrow but I am so worried now and can't stop thinking about it.  DO I have reason to worry....is 7 cc low....why was she so worried??

You can also drink as much water as you possibly can that will sometimes help replenish the fluid.  Good luck to you.

Anything between 5 and 25 is typically considered normal during the last trimester.  So 7 is on the low end of the spectrum.  Most likely they will want to continue to monitor you weekly or biweekly with NST's (non stress tests) and AFI's (amniotic fluid index).  Sometimes the body will slow the production of amniotic fluid in anticipation of labor so the levels will begin to drop for a period of time (days to a couple weeks) before labor kicks in.  At this point I don't think it's anything to worry yourself silly over.  If it was THAT big of a deal I'm sure your doc would have spoken with you about it by now.  I had low fluid with my first pregnancy and ended up with a c-section at 40 wks 3 days due to NO fluid but that's a pretty extreme situation and there were other extenuating circumstances. But she is now 14 and healthy as can be. If you are really concerned call and speak with your doctor before your appt.
