Well thats why in Canada we have the prenatal massages. I also have a few friends that are in the 'biz'.
I know its fine here, some places dont do them and just wont but at almost all spas and massages offices they offer prenatal massages.
I'm an LMT and you need to get a pre-natal massage. They are certain points on your body where we can't apply pressure b/c they could cause baby to flip or contract the uterus. But we do give pre-natal massages to women in their first trimester. Hope this helps!
I had massages every month during the entire pregnancy, except the last two months I believe, regular massages one hour long. The lady's just watch out for the presser points, but it was fine. It was at a chiropractic office, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I['ve been thinking of getting one, but I don't have the money right now.
They usually won't give a massage until you are further along in your pregnancy. There are certain pressure points that can bring on labor. Call up a spa and let them know how far along you are and see if they will do it but I don't think they do it at 12 weeks.
Im not sure if they are any less $$$.
But I know that prenatal massages are very common in Canada, I think most place either way go with a min-hour rate.
However I do know that with a prenatal massage they push on 'other' pressure points and avoid some to.
Thank you ladies!!!
I had a regular massage as the place I go to didn't have prenatal massages. I just told the lady that I was pregnant and there were no issues. If you call up the place, I'm sure they all have different rules. Are the regular massages less expensive or something? I"ve never heard of prenatal massages!
I'm going for a massage today and when I called to book it they told me if I was though my first trimester then to do the prenatal. you could go either way. I would just let the spa know how far along you are and they will be able to tell you what's best. Enjoy!!
