Miscarriages: How do they Feel or Look?

I just found out on the 4th that I am pregnant after 1 1/2 years of trying :) But, even though I am not totally worried about it as I was the first day is how do you know you are having a miscarriage? I know this is a tough topic for most people, but I want to be prepared and cautious for myself. This is my first pregnancy, and my first appointment isnt until the 19th, which seems like years away, but I have had some cramping last night and this morning, so I just want to get some info. If anybody could share experiences or facts about how you know you are having a miscarriage by the way they feel or look I would really appreciate it. Thank you

Bah this is what happens when my computer is down!!! I miss all the exciting baby news! Are you going to get to find out the gender soon or wait? I thought you waited with little Jesse, right, to find out the gender? I also got your FB message but I didn't reply on Daniel's phone because the buttons are TINY (don't know how people type on those things) and anyway you're MOST welcome. Let me know if anyone has any problems. ;-)

Hi,

I had a miscarriage in dec 10 i was 5wks 6days, it started as a brown discharge i had a scan and was told a sack was seen and everything was great and healthy 36hrs late the bleeding had turned to a bright red and was told my hcg had halfed and expect to miscarry. I only had like a very bad period pain for 2 days but bled for 7 weeks (my hcg finally went to 0 last week).
In the beggining when my af was due i was cramping felt like i was going to start a period but was told its your uterous expanding. I was also told any "brown or very dark" bleeding is ok as its old blood its a bright red that isnt good.

Good luck hun and try to chill haha hope you have a h&h 9months

As Chantal and others have said- period-like cramps are TOTALLY normal! Unless you experience severe pain and/or bleeding I would stay positive and focus on the beauty of it. There is nothing like your first pregnancy with your first baby!

Chantal- I didn't KNOW YOU WERE PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!

I have had 2 miscarriages, they were very painful. My first was very early on at 5weeks. I woke up one morning and had horrible, unbearable cramps and started bleeding.

The second, I was 10 weeks and had some brown discharge for 2 days, was told everything was fine, and then I had horrible cramps ( now that I have been through labor, I can compare it to labor pains) for 8 hours and red bleeding before everything passed naturally. It was a nightmare.

Cramping early in pregnancy, period-like cramps, are very common and normal. Sometimes even spotting can be normal (but if you ever have spotting you should call your doc and be checked out). This will be my 3rd baby, and this is the first pregnancy I had spotting early on, twice, worried that it was a m/c, but then had an ultrasound and everything turned out to be fine. I am just over 14 weeks now and things still look great.

Try to be positive and congrats!! :)

congrats on the pregnancy... Miscarriagees are a horrible thing you can ever expierence! In 08 I mc twice first one at 7 weeks andd the second at 12. First one was in feb and believe it or not I bleed for 6 weeks my doctor put me on birth control for a while to stop the bleeding I decided I wanted to conceive again so I stopped taking them....i got a ovulation kit got the GO had unp sex and got pregnant I was 6 weeks in late may... My baby unfortunately had a birth defect and didn't turn into a fetus...my pregnancy continued for 3 weeks...lost it the day I woulda been 12 weeks. Ended with cramping sharp pains every 2 mins for 3 hour bleed till I passed out...your body goes through alot in little time and needs double time to recover! ... My doc told me to wait 3 periods then try.. I didnt and mc again.. But I know ppl who tried right away and had a successful pregnancy, but cramping at the begining id say is normal...just make sure your taking prenantals...no bigg movementss. Lots of water and be positive! good luck!  Hope the best for you! God bless

I had a miscarriage in June... I had cramping that was constant and worse than period pains and had red bleeding....

I just found out 2 days ago, after 7 months, I'm pregnant and so far only have the normal cramps like you'd get for a period and some stretching.. Not worried about a miscarriage this time. Gonna hold on to that word- POSITIVE... :)

Congrats on your pregnancy!!!
