My due date was just bumped back 2 wks. Should I be concerned?

I just had my mid-pregnancy anatomy ultrasound yesterday.  According to the first day of my last menstrual period, I am 20 wks pregnant.  The ultrasound, however, showed the baby measuring 18 wks.  The midwife seemed to think it was no big deal and just pushed back my due date 2 wks.  I am a bit worried because I am taking beta blockers for high blood pressure and I also have gall bladder disease, both of which could affect the size of the fetus.  In fact, when I went for my gall bladder consult with the surgeon he specifically said he would remove the gall bladder now if the baby looked small at ultrasound.

Contrary to what my ailments might suggest, I am not overweight.  I asked the midwife if she thought it was strange that she heard a strong heartbeat at 7 wks (originally 9 wks) and she said that was normal for a thin woman.  This date change would also mean I had a positive pregnancy test at 3 weeks after 1st day of last period.

My gut is telling me to get a second opinion, but she seemed so sure of herself when she switched the date.  Am I overreacting?

Actually, they always bump around the due date after that u/s.  Really anything after 6 weeks isn't accurate.  I'd go by your original due date, and if you go over then switch it.  :)  But you could talk to the surgeon about the gallbladder since they think your baby is measuring smaller.

Your not overreacting, usually when you feel something isn't right....you have every right in the world to say give me a second opinion.  :)

The midwife may be right, but I would say that you should follow your gut.  If something is telling you to get a second opinion, then I would do it.
