I dont know if it us pregnant people or the poor doctors who have hormonal pregnant people calling them all day! Imagine how they feel! haha
kjbutcher... it's all those hormones right? LOL! My first doc when I was pregnant made me so mad I thought I was going to have a stroke, and I'm not kidding! My blood pressure felt like it was going through the roof.
But I switched docs until I found the perfect doctor. She was and is wonderful and I am so grateful she's my doc now!
if you are uncomfortable you should get a new doctor, however she is a little correct. If you look at the chart that many people have posted on here with the hcg levels, you will see that there is a wide range for each week and it overlaps from week to week. the only way to really tell is to get a u/s but it wont be accurate until 5-7 weeks. before that you wont even see a baby. As far as STD's it is required that you get tested before 12 weeks I think and you get a ton of tests at the same time so she may be waiting to see what happens before she orders the other tests to see if you need the full work up or not ( so it will be more convienent and less pain for you). As for HIPPA, she clearly stated, "I had my mom call her". If she gave permission it is ok. Really the beginning of pregnancy is a very scary and unpredictable time. Before you get pregnant you think you know how it works and it all seems so simple until you are there and you realize how many complications there really are and that every single symptom you have can be either completely normal or can be a sign of miscarriage. Before 12-23 weeks depending on the situation, there is absolutely nothing they can do to stop a miscarriage. It is really a sit and wait game and noone can tell you a definate answer. Your symptoms...all completely normal and can range from almost immediate to not happening for 6 weeks or in my case, never happening at all. Seriously pregnancy, from one person to another and even two of your own pregnancies, is a very random series of events. It is also very normal to be frustrated at this point...I know I was! Good Luck. Answers should be coming your way soon.
You are so right, kennedydp5! I didn't think of that. But you are completely right. They have something called HIPPA that they have to abide by (confidentiality procedures). Your doctor was disclosing very personal and private information to your mother.
i thought a doctor wasn't allowed to tell your parent anything b/c of it being confidential information and you're also 18... so that right threre would make me say yes on finding another doctor! now of course after saying that i would want to know everything about my daughters' health but i just thought they weren't allowed to do that... i could be wrong though!
Ovulation is when the egg is released from the ovary. It means you're fertile. If you don't know what the word means, then I guess you wouldn't know when it happened?!?! LOL! Don't worry about it. And don't feel stupid either. Anyway, I can only guess at how far along you are. According to a pregnancy calculator and the dates you gave me, you're 5 weeks, 6 days pregnant. Soon you'll be able to see baby on an ultrasound!
idk what ovulated means but i started my last period on either the 7th or 8th of november and ended around the 11th because of sex.. it made my period stop completely
When was your last period? And do you know when you ovulated?
thank you that helps a lot so how far would you think i am? thank you so much for helping me
I would definitely go somewhere else! How dare she! I just cannot believe that. First of all, you can't know when you're 1-2 weeks pregnant. The soonest someone knows they are pregnant is 3 1/2 weeks. There is absolutely no way to know before then.
Second, she should've been STRAIGHT with you. If miscarriage was something she suspected, she should have TOLD you. What if you started bleeding or having trouble? It would FREAK you out. It's one thing to be prepared and another to be caught off guard and lied to.
Yes, there are more STDs that you can be tested for (HIV, herpes, hepatitis, to name a few).
If you have symptoms, like nausea and soreness, you're more than likely NOT miscarrying. Those symptoms can begin a few days after implantation (or about a week after conception).
