When you have - blood and the dad has + you need to get a shot and depending on the baby's blood type they may need one once they are born. If mom is positive and dad is - its fine
Thank you everyone for the advice : ) I really appreciate it
Like I said if this is your first pregnancy then you don't have anything to worry about. It's only with future pregnancies. Reason why, the only reason why having o- blood type is a problem is if your baby has a different blood type then you and for some reason your blood is mixed during pregnancy then your body will not recognize it and try to fight it off like an infection. It will create antibodies but those antibodies only happen in second, third, or any other pregnancy in the future.Your body won't make them during your first. And like I said your doctor will give you a rhogam shot if you ever get pregnant again so you don't have to worry at all.
It just means they will give you the shot at 28 weeks and again when you are in labor if needed
As far as I know it not the blood type but if your negative or postive. Negative means your rh-. You dont have a protein in your blood that postives do. The doctor told me the samething about a month ago and that wasn't good answer. So i researched it.rh- is not common and actually only 15% of the world have to deal with this. And the lady above is right and that's only if the baby's blood leaks into you and it's different from yours (rh+). If you get the shot your fine. Nothing will happen. When you give birth they will test the babies blood and nd if it's different you will need another shot. I did my research. I have to do the same thing on my next visit.
Im also o- and my first pregnancy my body rejected it and I got the shot due too pregnancy termination im pregnant again and everything seems to be fine.
It very rarely happens during the first pregnancy. Though it can happen if there is any trauma to your stomach which could cause bleeding or if you had a placental abruption. It is important to get the shot at 28w to prevent anything happening in any future pregnancies. You will also get a shot after the birth if your baby is rhesus+. I haven't had mine yet hunni have to get it in 2 more weeks as I am AB-. Don't stress. From what I've heard from people that have got it is that it stings but you'll be fine
If this is your first pregnancy then your body will definitely not reject your baby. I have o- blood too and it's only a lil concern for your second pregnancy but even that isn't anything to worry about. During your second pregnancy you will get a shot between 24 and 28 weeks to prevent it from happening. So don't worry your baby is going to be fine :)
