PSVT & Murmur

I am 22yrs 5'6" and 55kg I have PSVT at least once a month at about 200bpm for 30 mins, Have a heart murmur which was not seen on an Echocardiogram but can be easily heard so the Dr thinks it a MitraL Valve Prolapse.
Also all my blood tests are normal with a slight gilberts disease .
My husband and I are wanting to start a family but I am concerend that something might happen with my heart with the added stress of pregnancy.

I agree with the other ladies.  You need to speak with a doctor about this before trying to conceive to see what the options and possibilities are.

best of luck to you.

I have SVT...Im not exactly sure what PSVT is.  During pregnancy I find that I have more frequent attacks that last longer, expecially in the third trimester,  most times I have to go to the ER and receive adenosine.  My cardiologist prescribed nadolol... Ive chosen not to take it because it does get into the breastmilk and I am set on breastfeeding.  The Doctors have all assured me that accelerated heartrate does not affect the baby as long as it does not carry on over a long period of time.  Although this is definitely something that you need to discuss with your OB and Cardiologist.  Im scheduled for ablation (there going to cauterize the valve in my heart that is causing the problem) after my baby is born.

I totally agree...i am an RN at a Cardiologist office and i would definitely consider speaking with my OB/GYN doctor...im sure there are medications you can be on to control your psvt, but there may be a risk/benefit issue. Not sure if many heart medications are indicated for pregnancy...but speaking with your OBGYN can definitely help clear all of this up!

That is always a possibility. However, this is definitely a question for your Dr. and your Cardiologist. I would recommend calling your OB/GYN and setting up an appointment to discuss your concerns with them, so they can tell you what you should do. I do not believe that pregnancy is contraindicated for any of these diagnosis, but this is definitely something a medical professional needs to speak with you about. This beyond any advice we could give you, and I'm almost a nurse, and am telling you to see your Dr. I hope that you can start trying and that you won't have any issues, and a very successful pregnancy!!
