Did your OB write you a prescription for one? Usually they do, but you can take any of the OTC prenatal vitamins, they have a bunch whichever one you choose is fine, but I use One A Day Prenatal. Congratulations!!!
You can take as fancy or basic prenatals as you want. I just take walmart's generic brand. My ob said it's good enough. A lot cheaper than some of the other ones that include extra junk. My ob said as long as you're eating a varied and balanced diet there's no reason to pile on that extra stuff (like DHA, ect.) But it's totally up to you.
Just make sure it has folic acid but I'm sure most or all of them do
Any brand is fine, just make sure it had DHA.
I took one a day woman at the beginning, I would suggest start taking it very soon. I started even before I'm preggo, lol. Folio acid is very important for the baby at this early stage. So lot of veggie and fruit, Congrats :)
I take the Brainstrong prenatals. Did a lot of label-reading at the beginning, and it seemed to have significant amounts of all the major things we need, and the highest amount of DHA, which is good for their brain development. The original OTC prenatal I was taking was completely missing iron, which I didn't know for a couple of weeks. It is good to do a little label-reading; they're not all the same.
