Question about prenatal pills

I HATE taking those pills, I always have to cut it in half.  There are times where I forget to take my prenatals, for example last week I missed 3 days out of 7days...the week before that I missed 4 days out of 7...I haven't had a week where I've taken my pills everyday...how bad is this and how important are prenatals during pregnancy...do they really help with birth defects? And are there any liquid prenatals out there because I have hard time swallowing pills even if its cut in half.

I have been told that best time to take your prenatals is before you become pregnant. By the time most women know they are pregnant the neural tube has already formed and that's the main reason for prenatals.  I think if you have history of birth defects or have health problems prenatals are especially important but my doc says you can do just as much for your baby by eating healthy.

I take the chewable prenatal vitamins because I can't swallow a pill, and i heard they are pretty big. Just ask your doc for a prescription for the chewables. They don't taste that great, but I prefer them then trying to swallow a pill.

Yeah because it everytime I take my prenatals there are times where I can't even keep water down...I would much rather prefer chewable tablets...

I can't keep down my prescribed prenatals so I take gummy flinstones.   It's all I can do to even keep them down.  I think as long as you are eating a fully balanced diet (yeah right for most of us)  I think you will be fine.  I think keeping good food in is better than throwing up everything because of prenatals?  Good luck!

There are chewable prenatals but I haven't heard about any liquid ones. They are important during pregnancy because they give you all the vitamins and nutrients that you need... missing a couple days wont kill you but you should try to be as regular as you can be. If you are having a problem swallowing them contact your doctor and ask for the chewable kind of try taking 2 flintstone vitamins a day instead.
