I have been told that best time to take your prenatals is before you become pregnant. By the time most women know they are pregnant the neural tube has already formed and that's the main reason for prenatals. I think if you have history of birth defects or have health problems prenatals are especially important but my doc says you can do just as much for your baby by eating healthy.
And do prenatal pills really help prevent birth defects by a whole lot?
Hey gurl I have the same problems I cant swallow the pills and it is a pain. My doctor gave me the chewable they are a lot better. I sometimes forget to take them I am glad u posted this.
I take the chewable prenatal vitamins because I can't swallow a pill, and i heard they are pretty big. Just ask your doc for a prescription for the chewables. They don't taste that great, but I prefer them then trying to swallow a pill.
Yeah because it everytime I take my prenatals there are times where I can't even keep water down...I would much rather prefer chewable tablets...
I can't keep down my prescribed prenatals so I take gummy flinstones. It's all I can do to even keep them down. I think as long as you are eating a fully balanced diet (yeah right for most of us) I think you will be fine. I think keeping good food in is better than throwing up everything because of prenatals? Good luck!
just to say i would not take any vitamin that was not for prenatal use as some vitamins can be harmfull in pregancy like vitamin a
There are chewable prenatals but I haven't heard about any liquid ones. They are important during pregnancy because they give you all the vitamins and nutrients that you need... missing a couple days wont kill you but you should try to be as regular as you can be. If you are having a problem swallowing them contact your doctor and ask for the chewable kind of try taking 2 flintstone vitamins a day instead.
