i found fertilityfriend.com charting helpful as it calculates the lutheal phase based on the info you enter. though you need to start trakcking your BBT (basal body temperature). the chart/calendar will give you a lot of useful infomration. also, you need to start having sex 10 days after your period and a few days after you show s positive on the OPK. the combination of the 2 methods helped me conceive in 3 months. my period also varied between 28, 25 and 26. i know everyone is different but it seems to work. Good luck!
Thanks xx
For the past 4 months my cycle has been approx 26-28 days but this last month it was 32 days!! how am i supposed to work out my ovulation days now?
How do you calculate the luteal phase? After using the ovulation kits i reckon i ovulate approx day 15 or 16 but that was with a cycle of 26-28 days??
Just want to get preganant so bad!!!
cmoretti is correct- if your luteal phase is shorter then you can ovulate later. If your luteal phase is shorter than 10 days you cannot conceive and should speak with your doctor about ways to lengthen the luteal phase. I believe there is a vitamin that is supposed to help with that but I don't recall which one. I THINK it is B6 or B12.
Everyone is different. I have 27 or 28 day cycles and I ovulate on days 15 or 16 depending on how long that cycle is going to be. 27 days on day 15 or 28 days on day 16. Some women ovulate earlier than that and some later. One thing that remains constant is the length of YOUR luteal phase ( the number of days between O and AF) Once you determine how many days that is then you will know when you will AF once you have O. My LP is 12 days. Most range from 11-16 days but a LP shorter than 10 days is a problem and a doctor should be consulted if this happens. Some OPK are better than others but if they are positive on days 15 and 16 then that is indeed your indication that you should ovulate in the next 24-36 hours. To pinpoint ovulation you need to do BBT charting though.
Don't be discouraged! Most women don't get pregnant right away and the older you are, the longer it may take. Just keep trying!
