My sister also told me that if you buy cinnamin  sticks and suck on them as if you were smoking that will help as well.  Since it is about the same size as a cigarette and there is something about it that reduces the cravings chemically

I commend you all for trying to quit.  Please try as hard as you can.  My SIL smoked through out her pregnancy and hid it from everyone.  Her baby did have a very low birth weight, and had some lung issues when he was born.

Be careful with the vitamin C supplements.  Your daily maximum including what you get from food is 2000mg.  Get the lowest dose chewable kind that you can find and don't exceed that daily maximum.

Once you have quit, try not to start again when your baby is born.  Smoking can increase the risk of SIDS.

Good Luck to you all.

I had a really hard time giving up smoking too and also hid it to an extent from everybody.  Firstly it is hard. Very hard but it is possible to give up.  I'm sure you know that you can never make anyone give up it has to come from within themselves.

I was pregnant and gave up cold turkey and ended up loosing the baby.  the second time around I couldn't understand how it was so much harder (or I for some unconscious reason was not trying as hard).  I would quit and then have a stupid smoke being weak and hate myself, quit again for a few days and it would happen again.  this went on to about 5 months until I stopped.

The only advice I can give you is if you are not going to be honest with anyone else you must be honest with your doctors and midwives.  I was surprised how supportive they were.  I searched the internet for reasons to give up. Here's the ones that affected me the most: Smoking affects your placenta  which deprives the fetus of oxygen and this is what causes low birth weight.  It can cause cleft palate and if you are still smoking when you are delivering the baby will have to go through detox the day it is born.  the last one is the one that got me.

I am not telling you these things to moan at you they just helped me to get my head around giving up.  Try get down to one a day, then one every second day, then one a week.  If you can go for a few days in a row without a smoke you can give up.

Regardless you have it in you and you have the want to do it or you would not have posted this question.  and just so you know I gave up and had a healthy 8lb 8oz baby with no breathing or any other problems.

Best of luck.

smoking just 5 a day isnt as bad as smoking a pack a day, they say not to quit cold turkey, so if ur serious about quitting maybe talk to your doctor about safe ways to quit try goin from 5 a da to 4 a day for a week and so on :) good luck i know its not easy :)

I am almost 10 weeks and still smoking.  I really do want to quit but I am having a very hard time with it.  I have been told vitamin c the chewable kind can help with cravings.  I plan after this pack to be done.  Also talk with your Dr about ways to quit.
