Spotting brown discharge/blood

I started my period on the 29th, or what I thought was my period. A few hours after I started, I had a spot of blood that was bright red. Then after that, my entire menstruation I have been spotting brown blood/discharge and a few spots of blood but mostly brown stuff. It was so light that it never filled up a tampon my whole period; I don't have heavy periods, but mine are not ever that light, they're normal until this one. One the second day of my period I had sharp pains in my ovary area, which was odd because I don't ever get cramps; I had it the following day as well, but it wasn't as intense. Even after my period ended on June 2nd, I still have am having a slight bit of brown spotting. I'm wondering if this is caused by the emergency contraceptive I had take a week prior to my period? (which I didn't need because he pulled out, but took because we didn't use protection to be on the safe side) I don't think I'm pregnant, but could be a possibility since my boyfriend and I have been having sex, but we've been very careful. I'm worried and so is he because we don't want a baby right now, maybe in a few years after marriage. Please help!!

That's about it, can't think of any other symptoms as of now. Everything seems normal now but I guess we'll find out soon! Thanks for replying!
