Start of induction at hospital

At 6pm I was finally called to go into the hospital. I'm all settled in the room now waiting for the Dr to show up and do a cervical check.

I'm getting cervidal inserted tonight. They will start the pitocin in the morning.

I'm going to try and do a live post of my induction delivery.

The Dr came in at 10:45 to place the cervidal. The nurse gave me some nuvane in my ID. I was instantly dizzy and now 2 hours later am still out of it.

Having the cervidal inserted was very painful! I was in tears and now understand why I was given the nuvane. I am 1 cm dilated so the contractions the last 2 days did do some progress. I can't remember if he said how effaced I was.

They will be starting the pitocin around noon tomorrow since the cervidal has to be in for 12 hours.

YAY!! I'm sorry the cervadil was so painful.  They did not use that on me when I was induced.  I was 2 cm 50% and only had pitocin.  Since they have stripped your membranes, hopefully that will get things going and you won't need the pitocin (or need as much of it)

It's 5:35am now

I've gotten a few hours of sleep it's really hard to sleep with this monitor on. The bed is uncomfortable. I haven't had anymore contractions which has suprised me.

You can always ask them for something to help relax you enough to sleep IF you want that.

It's now 8:22am.

Still not much sleep. The bed is so uncomfortable! My back and hips are hurting. I was offered some ambien last night now I wish I had taken it. I've taken ambien before and don't like how it makes me feel so I didn't take it.

There gonna take the cervidal out at 11 and start the pitocin. I have a few hours till then. I'm gonna get a shower and breakfast now.

You're three hours behind me, now I can watch the clock with you!

Have you tried asking for extra pillows and changing the position of the bed? Hopefully you can get some rest before things start picking up.

Good luck :-)

That's how my first induction was started - with Cervidal.  They did it as an outpatient procedure and sent me home (contractions started in the middle of the night).  The second time, they skipped right to a Cook's catheter ( a device with a balloon that they inflate inside of you to force open the cervix - which is MUCH more painful.....so you're lucky, actually :)

Can't wait to hear more!!
