This may be a dumb question....

But when does the dr start seeing every two weeks and then when do they normally start checking you.  It's been 5 years since my last pregnancy and I can't remember anything.  Any thoughts are appreciated!

I'm high risk and I started seeing my Dr every two weeks at 26w. Most Drs I think wait until your in your 30wk or so. Usually they don't check you unless you are having signs of pre-term or you in your 37th week. But it does vary by Dr too.

Yeah he should start seeing you every two weeks! Some docs (like mine) don't check you internally unless you ask. Others do it for charting purposes. Whatever they find, whether dilated or not, won't matter in when you'll go into labor so that is why some docs don't check unless you ask! I asked and I was dilated for weeks!

Thanks girls, I thought that would be the case but I forgot ask my dr at my last visit(of course).  I will be 31 weeks at my next visit on April 11 so maybe then he will see me every 2.  I'm getting anxious to meet my little man.

im not prego but my DH's cousin and his GF are fixing to have one and she said the same thing as precious03. Shes been getting chkd every two weeks since 30wk and starting on the first of April shes gonna go every week and her baby is due May 8.

I go in on monday which will be 30w for me, I will start every two weeks then until my 36th week.  My doc said they will start checking me at 35 weeks unless I have any complications or concerns!!

my Dr wants me to start coming back every 2 weeks arounf 26-28 weeks but I'm having twins so that could be different with just 1

That's not a dumb question.  It depends on your doc.  I have an appt on April 14th, and that will be my week 31 appt.  After that is when I'll go to every 2wks and starting at 36wks move to ever week.

I see a midwife and at 30 weeks in when she wanted to see me every two weeks. But because everything is going so well, she has been seeing me everything 3 weeks now. She probably won't check me until I am 37-38 weeks to see if I am dialated at all. And your question is not dumb at all. This is my first, so I am learning as I go along here! =)  How far along are you?

My next apointment i will be 28 weeks and then after that we start every 2 weeks.  I think they wait till closer to the end before the start checking to see if your dialated......atleast i hope so LOL  I always thought that was horribly painful.
