Three days late; Blood Test; Urine Test...Confused.

My last period was August 6, 2010. I have always been extremely regular. Never been late for a period once. I went to my doctor September 3, 2010 because for the past few days I've been nauseous, gagging, had some heartburn. I went and my temperature was 99.7 which is a few degrees high for me, but my urine test came back negative and so did the HPT that I had taken the day before. Did I test too early? Most tests say you can test up to four days BEFORE your missed period so I don't understand why on the day of my missed period it would come up negative. My period was due the second, but I have yet to get it. I had a blood test done today, September 4, 2010. But if the urine couldn't detect pregnancy wouldn't the blood not be able to detect it as well? Should I take another HPT? I've heard of people convincing themselves their pregnant but I've been suspicious before and I still got my period. This time things are entirely different. Such as the frequent nausea and gagging. How often do people REALLY convince themselves their pregnant to the point where they miss their period.

Yea I'm just not sure If i have that sort of "power" over myself you know? Surely times before when I was much more suspicious of pregnancy this would have happened then. But who knows.

Answer to your questions is ALL the time. I have seen honestly hundreds of people come on here with late periods with every symptom in the book and not be pregnant just like I've seen people come on with no symptoms and actually be pregnant. If you got a beta HCG test it should tell you what level your blood comes back as vs yes or no for pregnancy. Anything higher then 5 is considered pregnant. Most pregnancy tests cant detect pregnancy until your reach a level of 25 or above. Although first response has been proven to detect it as early as 12.
