When is the pressure/discomfort NOT normal during pregnancy?

Last week I went to L&D because when I woke DH up for work, I had so much cramping in my lower stomach, pressure in my back/butt/vagina area (wayyyy deep in, like where my cervix is) that I couldn't do anything to relieve the pain, when I got there she put me on the monitor, and she said since I wasn't having contractions there was nothing wrong, it looked just like normal pregnancy discomfort. She told me to return if I had any pink discharge/bloody show, if my water broke. That night before I went to bed I had pink when I wiped, I put on a pad overnight and there was nothing the next morning, so I called her and told her and she said it was fine, I didn't need to come in. So my question is does pregnancy discomfort get so bad to the point you can't sit or lay down? I've still had the cramping in my lower stomach, and the back pain that's going to my butt, not as bad, but still pretty mildly. She told me she could check my cervix but she didn't want to incase my doctor wanted to test to see if I was going to go into preterm labor, checking my cervix would effect the results, he didn't end up doing the test because I had no contractions, and she never checked my cervix, so am I just overreacting, or should I continue to ask them about this?

I ended up on bedrest from 26 weks on due to this kind of pressure. You are the best judge of your body. If you are really concerned go back to your Dr, my cervix ended up being less then 2mm, they did a transvaginal ultrasound to find this (my orginal complaint had been that i thought i was leaking fluid, which i did but it replenished itself)

Then later on at around 37 weeks i went to l&d twice because of the pressure i was feeling, te first time they admitted me for the night, the second time they admitted me until i had the baby 5 days later (i was allowed out on pass, they were planning on inducing me if i didn't go naturally by day 3 which i didn't but got bumped by a more serious case, then first induction didn't work, neither did the second...they broke my water finally.....but to make a long story short, i never had any actual contractions until i hd my water broke, just LOTS of pressure down there.

Does it subside when you are laying down? Try laying on your side with a pillow between your thighs and knees/lower legs

I have been dealing with the same problem, especially the last few days. I have been having intense pressure and some cramping in my lower abdimon. I have been wondering if it could be early labour, but I am not sure. Sometimes it eases but comes back with vengence. I am only 30w4d and worry about it too. I have a doctor appointment next monday and am going to ask about it. Hopefully nothing happens before then. I wish you luck! How far along are you?

I had the same problem my last pregnancy and now this one too. My doctor took it very seriously and checked my cervix and I was already starting to dilated!! I was 20 something weeks.(cant remember exacly) I was so worried I would go early but my little guy had other plans , lol. I went 2 days late. 5 days ealy by LMP. But I was so afraid of early labor. My doctor wasnt worried at all, sometimes we get started a little sooner but it doesnt mean we will have our babies early. But then again if your contraction should get stronger and develope a pattern I would gert to L&D asap. But the kind of pressure you are discribing is very normal especialy if this isnt your first:( Oh the joys of pregnancy!!

How many weeks are you? They usually don't start checking until around 36 weeks and some doctors don't check at all anymore because you can be dilated for weeks, even a month or more, before giving birth. It's not an indication that you're going into labor. It could be Braxton Hicks and/or pelvic floor pressure.

If you want to ease your mind, though, they should do what they can to make sure all is well so definitely let them know that you're kind of freaking out and don't want your baby to come too early!

Thanks, I have a doctors appt. on Friday, is checking my cervix "manually" (I guess that's what you'd call it haha) in the doctors office as reliable as on an ultrasound? I don't want to sound like a freak asking them to check my cervix at a normal doctors appt. when they don't seem concerned at all.

Pelvic floor pressure is a common complaint--- and SO ANNOYING! I feel your pain. Pregnancy discomfort can become pretty unbearable and make it impossible to get comfortable.

Maybe they could do a sonogram to check your cervix. Otherwise I'd just keep the nurse up-to-date about what is going on. When in doubt, always call! That's what they're there for.
