You can eat shrimp, but make sure you cook it thoroughly, as with any other meat!

i have heard so many different things about shrimp. i had myself so freaked out that i never knew what to eat!  what my doctor said is to avoid raw/undercooked fish/meats, soft/bleu cheeses, and to eat fish/shellfish sparingly.  i know that tuna has a lot of mercury, but i also read that there are benefits to eatting fish while pregnant and it is okay in moderation.  so, i started eatting fish once a week (starting two weeks ago).  two weeks ago i ate tuna and this week i ate coconut shrimp.  i am a big sushi lover so i plan to switch to an occasional shrimp tempura (it's cooked) just to get my sushi fix.  i have a friend that said she ate seafood sporadically thru her pregnancies and everything is fine.  have a happy and healthy pregnancy!

The only thing my doc said about fish in general was absolutely no Swordfish or Sushi because it all has too many parasites and things on them that is not good for the baby. Otherwise they said as long as fish is fully cooked, I can eat all I want. Granted you can get too much of a good thing, like eating too much of it until you cant stand the taste anymore, but you should be safe.

i avoided seafood. but i didnt know i was pregnant till i was bout 6 weeks and i was craving tuna. so i ate a bunch of tuna. theres a list somewhere of the amout of seafood your allowed to have and what foods to avoid. i thought shrinp was ok but dont quote me on that. i dont think having a shrimp ring will do much harm.
