anyone ever had a cerclage?

HI,
I had a leep done 2 and a half yrs ago. Now i am 20 wks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I am a little worried because my doctor gave me the option to either monitor my cervical length or get the cerclage. I decided to monitor with having ultrasounds done about every 2-3 wks. When I 1st decided to monitor, my cervical length was at 6 cm, at that time i was 15 wks. Now I went last wk and I am at 3.8cm. Is it bad that it shortened? Now I am truly worried. I am going to see a specialist next wk. If he finds that I should’ve gotten the cerclage, will it still be able to be done at that time since I am already half way through?

I have not, but my friend did. She was also monitored and her cervix started shortening, so she had it done. She now has a healthy (almost) 2 year old little girl.

It will still be able to be done. I had 2 LEEPs done myself. I had a baby after each of them. They monitored my cervix by u/s and thank God I never had trouble. But it sounds like you do need the cerclage, your cervix is shortening. You can go into preterm labor if it continues to shorten and at only 20 weeks that would be a very bad thing.
