I used to have bad heartburns in my teens. I avoided eggs. especially in dinner. For some strange reason eggs always triggered bad heartburns for me. And I avoided overeating, had small frequent meals, and sometimes even fasted - to rest my tummy, though the last idea came out of my own head and my doc had nothing to do with it!

Ive had sever acid reflux and indigestion this pregnancy.  I'm 34w with baby #3.  Mine started in my second trimester and has only gotten worse now in the thirdtrimester the baby is now taking up room that once belonged to my acutal stomach.  I started out trying the TUMS and it just did not work for me, i killed a bottle in about a week and a half.  They decided then to put me on Previcid which worked brilliantly till insurance decided they would only pay for 90 pills a year.  Then they tried pepcid which did not work very well, so I started taking TUMS again with it and Asked my doctor for something else and she just put me on protonix which works extremely well.  My acid reflux and indigestion was getting so bad that I was throwing up stomach acid throughout the day and night, it was waking me up at night, and from my esophagus to my throat was so raw from acid it started to prevent me from eating.  I've had to try a lot of things and these were my experiences with them.  They also said at one point OTC Zantac was safe to try as well.  I tried the change the eating habits and such but I also needed Meds in my case.  I would start with the less invasive steps and work my way up, but these are the things I have tried.

I take Tums for my heartburn. My dr recommends some kind of liquid but it makes me throw up even more than I do already so he said tums are fine.  I get heartburn from water so I know how bad it *****.
