back from u/s.......

ok so i cannot give a clear yes we have a heartbeat or no we dont...the doc used a very old u/s machine that was still on wheels...she forewarned me that we may not get to see anything because it is so old but what they were looking for was images of my cervix and growth of the baby

vaginal did not work....so we did belly and there was def a yolk sac (although i may have misunderstood but i think she pointed at a yolk sac in 2 different locations)...dont know....i asked her could it be more then one and she said that machine wouldnt let her know but she's not ruling it out

she had another doc come in the room and look at the image and both agreed everything looks great...i am right where i should be at almost 7 weeks and they are not concerned at this time

my ob scheduled me for an u/s by a radiologist next week (waiting to find out appointment now) and then i go back to see her on 3/12...my appointments will prob be every 2 weeks because i am such a high risk...but taking it day by day

i wish i had the definite heartbeat to relax me but there's no cramping or spotting so that's all i have to go on now

I know how it feels!  I just had an early scan too, a little older machine, I am about 6 weeks and we saw a flicker but it was too hard for her to know for sure if it was the heartbeat.

I knew going into it that we may not see it, but seeing the flicker, even if she wasn't 100% sure it was the heartbeat, it made me feel better!

From what I understand, their able to detect a heartbeat as early as 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 weeks through transvaginal u/s, It depends though on the quality of the machine.  If you get a chance let me know how things go for you.  I was scheduled to go next Tues but the technician is taking an emergency leave so they bumped me up to today!!  I dont think it will make much of a difference (as I went for one Monday morning) but hopefully they'll be able to give me a due date....mabye even hear the heartbeat.  Im keeping my fingers crossed..

Just relax and enjoy the moment, I know it's easier said than done. I am sure you will be fine, especially if both doctors are saying it's all where it's suppose to be right now ;)

Dont worry about no cramping or spotting. Not everyone gets that so it doesnt matter.
I had none of it, and I felt my baby for the 1st time at 13 weeks.
I had an early dating scan done at 5 1/2 weeks, they saw the yolk sac and the baby, but as it was early they coulnt be 100% sure if there was a heart beat, so i had another at 7 1/2 weeks and they saw a nice strong heart beat.
Those two weeks wait were awful as i didnt know if my baby was alive or not, so i understand how you feel.
DR shouldnt use old machines, it not fair on the mother to give her doubt her baby isnt alive.
As long as your not having terrible cramps or bleeding, take it as a good sign everything is going ok.
Try and relax as stress isnt good for the baby.

Congrats on the pregnancy, hope all goes well

Hi!  I had my Hcg taken the first time last wed feb 3rd, they came back at 2200, then they were taken again fri the 5th, they came back at 4940.
I know its easier said than done but try to stay positive.  I have also suffered through miscarriage, One (chemical) at 6 weeks and another (blighted ovum) at 9 weeks,  I have been extremely nervous this entire pregnancy.....constantly worrying if my symptoms are still there..... im trying to stay busy....(my house is spotless!! ive even been working on cupboards....cd's and dvd's are now in alphabetical order....lol)
Have you asked your MD for an early u/s scan? so far I have had 2 and they seemed to have eased my mind a bit.
COngratulations to you!!

Hi there
I am due Oct 7!! I am only 6 weeks tomorrow and I agree with you, 12 weeks seems so far away.  I got to 8.5 weeks my first pregnancy, and I can't stop thinking I'm not going to make it there.  I keep thinking there is something wrong with me, even though miscarriages happen all the time.  What were your HCG levels?

thats great that they were able to see development, even with the old u/s machine....It sounds like everything is going to work out great.....your right, those old machines should all be tossed!!

The waiting game is so hard...I know...If I was able to figure out someway to just fast-forward through the first 12 weeks...things would be so much simpler...

I think you and I should be due around the same time, within a week or so. ....

its so hard to say if its multiples...there were 2 docs in the room and they both pointed different places saying i believe thats the yolk sac...i asked my ob and she said she can rule it out but my next u/s i'll know for sure

its just more waiting but i was reassured that everything looks great and im on target for where i should be

darn old machines should be put away...i cant believe they even used one...but oh well
