blood thinning injections

I had a call from my midwife and said I need daily injections of blood thinners due to I'm high risk for blood clots. She said I need to be trained to give them to myself. Is anyone else on these and do they hurt? X I'm worried as I'm petrified of needles x

I had to be put on the lovanox blood thinners for about 2 months during my pregnancy. At first it really sucked having to give yourself a shot twice a day but after awhile it just became natural and easy. The only thing that I really hated was that I was so tiny and only baby so I literally had no fat to inject the shot so I would have to do it in ths muscle of my upper thigh and that would bruise really bad. But it gets better.

Also, You Don'tNeed Training, Though I Wish I Would Have Gotten shown What To Do When I First Started. After You Do ThE First Few Shots You're Going To Learn How Your Skin Reacts And What Is More Comfortable. I Think The Hardest Part For Me Now Is That I Can't Reach My Hips To Well (Two Handed Job, Giving Shots)Lol But If You Have A Friend Or Your Spouse/Partner They Can Easily Be Shown How To Do Them And I Honestly Think It Hurts Less When I Can't See It Happening. IF You Can Convince Someone To Give Them To You On Your Lower Back Or Butt Id Say Do It There. I Know The Skin Right Where My Underwear Sit Is TheSpot I Normally Do Mine And Sometimes I Can't Even Feel It. You Just Have To Be Careful Not To Hit A Blood Vessel Cause You Will Get A Bruise, And Also Be Careful Around Vein. I Hit The VeinIn My Leg And Although It Didn't Hurt, I Was Stuck With A Bruise The Size Of My Fist lol

Im On Heparin, You May Be On It Too Or Another Medication Called Lovanox. The Heparin Doesn't Really Hurt. Granted I Get Sore Obviously, And Need To Learn New Places I Can Comfortably Give Myself The Shots,But They Are Injected Using Tiny Diabetic Needles. I Do My Shots On My Hip And Back On My Thigh. It's Not Hard To Do The Shots. I Had To Work Up To Doing Them Though Because I Was Terrified Of Needles, Hyperventilating Happened More Then Once Lol. I Was Also In LoVanox For About A Year Due To Surgery And Complication, I Won't Lie, It Hurts. Lovanox Burns When It Goes In And You Have To Go A Bit Deeper. It's Also Going To Give You Giant Bruises. The Bruises Are Startling But Usually Don't Hurt. The Only Good Thing About Lovanox Is You Only Do It Once A Day Where As The Heparin You Have To Do Twice A Day To Four Times A Day Depending On Your Age And Weight. It's Not Fun, But I Promise It's Not Terrible. I Honestly Think The Flu Shot Hurts More Then Either Of Those Medications.
