Colostrum is liquid gold, it gives newborns their first huge dose of not only nutrients but immune system boosters as well. It's what keeps them from getting sick when they're teeny tiny, and there's not much of it there before the full milk supply comes in. I would absolutely suggest against pumping it off in order to start labor - but if you are going to do it anyway then please store it properly so it can be fed to your baby after delivery.
My question is why do women do it before they even start leaking?? Seems painful right? ??
I agree 100% about talking to your doctor before trying it. I was told that the colostrum coming out while still pregnant is okay, because the placenta is still intact & receiving the nutrients. Its just what I was told.
Im going to try this & keep walking. Today is 38+3, no signs of anything. Cervix is getting soft, but no dialating or it moving forward... but they can feel his head right there.I cant get a membrane sweep. So hopefully this will help.
I'm really surprised your midwife told you to do that. You're not supposed to pump before birth due to the fact that you will pump out your colostrum and this is incredibly important for baby. I'm glad it worked for you but I definitely would advise the other ladies to talk to their doctors/do their research before they go and try it.
That's exactly what your supposed to have. It's call Colstum or something like that. It's what the baby needs nutrient wise when it's very first born.

Im gonna try it but when i do it i have clear stuff draining out?! Did you?!
I've heard about this before so I tried it. I'm 37 weeks and at my last appointment I wasn't effaced or anything. After trying the breast pump for a few days I'm not 60% effaced and 1cm dialated.
Hmmm interesting, fingers crossed for ya
