castor oil ?

If you have used castor oil to induce labor then what is your story or opinion on it? Just curious. I've heard lots of things about it & just want to hear personal stories.

I've done it w all my pregnancys w no complications although I did take it w pineapple juice ate a whole pineapple walked the whole day had lots of sex that night nd toped it off w a very hot shower nd I was in labor within two hrs of my shower but do b carefull the contractions it causes is out of this world and also if ur body hasn't progressed on its own there is nothing u can do to help... Ur body has to naturally make the first step so if ur not dilated or thined out or lost ur plug no remedy will help ....

When I think of castle oil I think of one story a mom told on here about her friend. Her friend took castle oil and during pushing had explosive diarrhea on the doctor.

When I was 38 weeks my husband and I had sex with me on top. My mom told me If the baby is ready to come it will work. About 5 hours later my water broke. It was the only thing that worked for me.

A few friends of mine have tried it and swear they will never again touch it. They didn't go into labour but spent 2 days on the loo in agony.

It causes violent cramping of the bowel, therefore making your uterus cramp and contract. It causes diarrhoea and vomiting.
It can be very dangerous to baby.
The severity of the cramping, contractions and bowel movements can cause baby to have a bowel movement while in the womb. Baby can then inhale this bowel movement causing breathing problems, asfixiation and any number of other issues.
Also if baby is not ready or in an awkward position it can cause problems too.
Not every case is like this, some ppl take it with no problems, but I wouldn't take the risk.
Ask your Dr first before taking it.

All it does is clean out your bowels which makes it easier for you to go into labor since there isn't anything blocking.
