difference between losing your mucus plug and bloody show?

I've been sorta MIA lately ladies, its been a rough couple of weeks and with the holidays its been really busy. Im now 38w3d and last time i was checked i was 2 cm. I had an NST this morning (which Faith refused to cooperate, they would buzz her, she'd kick the monitor then go back to sleep) and my doc commented i was having small regular contractions. She said she'd be amazed if i made it to next week.
Ok so to my question..whats the difference between your mucus plug and your bloody show? what i've read online is really confusing, i lost a bit of my mucus plug last week and then a few hours ago i definitely had alot of mucus plug with brown blood in it. I've been sorta crampy ever since but nothing major. So my question is was that my bloody show? It was definitely mucusy and way thicker then regular discharge and it had streaks of brown blood in it. im so confused!

My mucus plug came out but was still intact and they pushed it back up and told me that i had to be on bedrest

yeah my mucus plug was this kinda greenish brown tint mucus and then this morning it was the same mucusy type stuff but with red streaks in it.

I've been having contractions all day just nothing closer then 8 or so minutes apart. They dont go away if i stand or sit or lay down. its mostly in my back and it feels worse if im laying down but its still painful if im standing.

With my mucous plug, it was slimy and light greenish just like boogers lol. and i lost it for almost 2 months, piece by piece.. and my bloody show, was the smae but with the redish brown, streaks.. and that came the night before Labor and alil more when I actually got to the hospital the next day,

I think from the first day i had any bloodyshow  to the day i went into labor was 2-3 days.

ahh i hope its soon! I'm having back contractions, its like this radiating pain that goes from my tail bone that wraps around to my hips and lower belly. normally i would think it was a back ache but its much worse and my whole belly tightens and cramps. they just arent close together yet, Cmon baby Faith out!

Everyone is different as you know...with DS I had it and my water broke within a couple days to a week...dont exactly remember...and with this last one DD I lost mine and went to the dr that day,because after I lost it I was bleeding heavy, and well he confirmed I had lost it...but I would up having to be induced a few weeks later....

But, I  have heard alot of women on here, who have lost theirs and went into labor within a few hours to a day...

ok so i definitely think i know the difference now LOL, the day i'd posted this i had alot of brown mucusy type discharge, last night i couldnt sleep very well and kept having contractions but nothing close together at all. This morning i went to the bathroom and i had this slimy discharge with red streaks in it.
How long was it for everyone from the time they had their bloody show to when they went into labor?

I had that happen on and off for two days then my water broke:)

well this was like really slimy mucus type substance(tmi i know eww lol) with streaks of reddish brown like old blood.

I didnt have a bloody show. Just a very slimy clear gloop of stuff when i wiped then the next morning my water broke.. What ever happens you are so close..

Yeah my bloody show was like bright red and slick. Kinda looked like blood clots and the blood was fresh.

I know for my bloody show it was a rusty red colour and was kinda slimy-ish. I don't recall ever seeing mucous, but it might have had it which would have made it slimy.
