does everyone lose their mucus plug

does everyone lose their mucus plug and does it always have to have blood through it do you lose it weeks before giving birth or right before you give birth

thank you everyone im just asking because i went to my appointment on thursday and my midwife checked to see if my waters had broke because i felt like i was leaking she said im not but i have some vaginal discharge which is a creamy colour but i asked her what the really clear sticky mucus is and she said its my mucus plug but i thought it was meant to be like a yellow colour i have never had that with any of my kids i didnt lose my plug or bleed with any of mine until i was having contraction 2 mins apart and my friend who is due the same day as me lost her plug yesterday and it was pink but when i go to the toilet im just getting some clear sticky mucus but not all the time should i be worried that i havent lost my plug or will it just happen when i least expect it

I never saw my mucous plug but I was dilated to 3cm and 100% effaced before I had each of my daughters. I did have little bits and pieces of this jell-O type discharge which I assume is the mucous plug, because it is usually described as such.

There was never any blood with me either (well, until I was actually giving birth).

Yes, everyone looses it, whether it is before labor or during labor. Some women loose it weeks before delivery and some loose it hours before. The last bit of it will have blood in it so if you loose it slowly over the course of a few weeks or days it will be clear or yellow up until that last bit comes out.
