It's easy for a blood test to be negative if you aren't far enough along. If they just do the typical qualitative, meaning a simple yes or no, then the test only looks for an HCG level above a certain amount. If you aren't far enough along for the level to be high enough it will show a negative result. If you have a quantative, or BetaHCG, that gives you specific numbers, but anything under I think 5 is considered non-pregnant level. Sounds to me like you were just too early to show positive on a test. Congratulations!!! Though in your case "gut instincts" were right, they aren't always. I've been throguh it and so have dozens of other women...missing periods, pregnancy symptoms, SWORE i was pregnant, but I wasn't. You should definately get a repeate blood test in a few days. I would ask them to do a Beta HCG though so you can get actually numbers.
Same thing happened to me and I am 29 weeks - Congrats
Congratulations, If your hcg level is less than 10 you can be told it's negative what it really means is testing again in 48hrs is advised. I really wish drs would explain this properly to people. Still go back to a dr though. With this pregnancy I had a blood test early (due to a previous mc) and it was 2 was sure something was going on a week later levels were 1000
Blood tests are the most positive way to go. Urine test are notorious for being incorrect. I would ask for another blood test and and ultrasound before getting too much hope. This is not to be mean, but I would rather you find out for sure before you start telling people.
