I found out at 13 weeks that my baby had stopped developing at 8 weeks 1 day. I just used a different brand of the drug they gave you but because it had been 6 weeks between the end of development and the induced miscarriage I ended up hemoraging (sp?) and had clots too big to pass, ended up in emerg and had a D&C done. I was told by the gyn that did my D&C that had it been earlier on the pills would have worked so I wouldn't worry about the problems I had, and as far as I know the D&C is safe. The only concern is if they take too much of the lining so it doesn't grow back as thick, making it harder to hold a baby and there is the risk of puncturing the uterus possibly cause damage to the bowel and bladder which is a major problem. I would say use the pills. For my they started working within 2.5 hours and as I said had it not been 6 weeks since the end of development I would have had no issues.
The pills are the most natural way, without being 100% natural making there less chance of complications and no restrictions when it's done. With the D&C there are some things like no sex for a couple weeks, and longer spotting that you don't get with the pills.
I'm sorry for your loss, and hope that your next pregnancy goes well, and good luck getting pregnant.
Same here. Had a normal pregnancy with first, then 2nd ended in m/c. I took meds at home, and had about 2-3 weeks of spotting with about 3 episodes of really heavy bleeding, cramping, and passing of clots (each episode lasting about an hour, and each time wondering if I needed to go to the ER). It finally started to all end when I passed a large clump of tissue. It also took several weeks for my HCG levels to get back down to baseline with weekly lab draws.
The doctor told me to wait to try again after 2 normal periods. After 2 normal cycles we started to try again, and that next month I fell pregnant. I am now 23 wks and expecting a boy.
Just a side note---they told me to take the meds in the evening. I started bleeding heavy in the middle of the night, and spent about an hour in the Bathroom.
So if you take it in the evening, expect to be up in the night.
I am so sorry you are going through all of this. It is an emotional roller-coaster, and when you are pregnant again, you will look back and it won't seem as painful.
You will always remember, and you will always worry about the viability of your next pregnancy, but you will find strength you never knew you had.
The best of Luck!
I also had one very normal pregnancy and delivery. And then I had a miscarriage. But please know it is possible to become pregnant again. For some women it is easier and for others it can be a struggle. Mind you, I was 21 when I had my miscarriage, so age doesn't matter.
I got pregnant with my 2nd daughter after the first period after my miscarriage. She just had her first birthday on Monday. Keep your chin up. I know that a m/c feels so incredibly horrible, you feel like a freak and failure, but you're NOT!
i am so sorry for your loss hon. ive never used the cyotec (sp) i had a d&c done with my miscarriage, im sorry i cant be more help..good luck to you
